    answer found - add this to the additional CSS option in Customizer

    .boxes {
    background: #fff;
    padding: 5%;
    opacity: 0.85;
    border: 1px solid #fff;
    outline: 10px solid rgba(251,251,251,0.5);
    }

    The Theme is by lovelyconfetti.com - I have both "Julia" and "Vivien" - I started with Vivien (current live site) then noticed Julia (current staging site) - Julia has some other options on it that I really like, except for the text issue. In the set up file to get the box that shows on vivien you add this code to the widget named custom HTML placed in the widget area "front page xxx" --
    <div class="boxes">
    <div class="title" style="text-align: center;">welcome</div>
    <h1 class="h1tagline" style="text-align: center;">Planting Your Family Tree?</h1>
    <div class="pdescription" style="text-align: center;">Anscavating can help it grow</div>
    Discover How</div>

    With Julia the same instructions, but with this code:
    <div class="boxes">
    <div class="title animated bounce" style="text-align: center; font-size:30px; "> </div>
    <h1 class="h1tagline" style="text-align: center;">PLANTING YOUR FAMILY TREE?</h1>
    <div class="pdescription" style="text-align: center;">ANSCAVATING CAN HELP IT GROW</div>
    DISCOVER HOW</div>

    If I try to add the code from vivien to Julia, it still does not show with the box, is there a way to add the box to these? or does it have to go into the css / PHP file?

    The staging copy is the theme I want to use - the live theme has the white box ... https://www.anscavating.com/
