Hi there
To make a .php file, open up notepad or your favourite text editor, copy and paste the code from Sridhar's site into the blank doc, then save it as the name he suggests.
Then you'll need to upload it to your theme file over FTP. It should sit under WP-Content/Themes/YOUR THEME NAME - you'll see functions.php in there as well.
Then copy and paste the new CSS into the style.css file.
When you go to create a new page now, you should have the option in the dropdown to the right to choose "Sales" as a template.
Hope that makes sense. Let me know if not.
Thanks

CleanPageDomParticipantHi there
There's a great tutorial from Ozzy Rodriguez on WP Bacon about how to implement the dropdown menu in Genesis for mobile devices. You could maybe take a look and try removing the media query aspect to make it work on all browsers?
Thanks
Dom
CleanPageDomParticipantHi there
How are you with functions.php?
The simplest way to do it (I think. At least this is how I would do it) is to register a new colour scheme in functions.php, then find the colour schemes in style.css, copy and paste one of those and alter each colour to reflect your client's choices.
For example, in Modern Portfolio, in the functions.php you'll find this:
//* Add support for additional color style options add_theme_support( 'genesis-style-selector', array( 'modern-portfolio-pro-blue' => __( 'Modern Portfolio Pro Blue', 'mpp' ), 'modern-portfolio-pro-orange' => __( 'Modern Portfolio Pro Orange', 'mpp' ), 'modern-portfolio-pro-red' => __( 'Modern Portfolio Pro Red', 'mpp' ), 'modern-portfolio-pro-purple' => __( 'Modern Portfolio Pro Purple', 'mpp' ), <strong>'modern-portfolio-pro-cpd' => __( 'Modern Portfolio Pro CPD', 'mpp' ), - I ADDED THIS CUSTOM ONE</strong> ) );
Then in style.css, you should find something like this:
/* Modern Portfolio Pro Red --------------------------------------------- */ .modern-portfolio-pro-red .after-entry .entry-title a:hover, .modern-portfolio-pro-red .entry-meta a:hover, .modern-portfolio-pro-red .entry-title a:hover, .modern-portfolio-pro-red .genesis-nav-menu > .right > a:hover, .modern-portfolio-pro-red .site-footer a:hover, .modern-portfolio-pro-red .site-header .genesis-nav-menu .sub-menu .current-menu-item > a:hover, .modern-portfolio-pro-red .site-header .genesis-nav-menu a:hover, .modern-portfolio-pro-red a { color: #fd5452; }
etc etc etc…
If you copy and paste the whole of the CSS for one of the colour schemes, then alter the hex codes based on your client's colours you should be OK. Anything that doesn't work you can fix using Inspect Element or similar.

Your footer's missing too. Have you not closed a div or something similar in one of the widgets?
Dom
CleanPageDomParticipantI think I did what you're talking about recently with Centric, but it wasn't a perfect solution. I'm a little busy at the minute but I will dig out the code so you can see if it would work for you.
What I've ended up with is the large page title showing the category for each of the blog category pages I've set up - which sounds similar to what you are trying to do.
Unless someone else comes along with a solution, bear with me and I'll get some code on here ASAP.
Thanks

Carrie Dils - Adding A Widget Area
It's proven invaluable.
Thanks
Dom
CleanPageDomParticipantOh, OK. Thanks for the information. I've not needed such a system yet. For page-specific sidebar widgets I've made do with Widget Logic. Sounds like this would be a much better catch-all solution for larger sites.
Thanks
Dom
CleanPageDomParticipantSure, OK. I'm not really familiar with the Simple Sidebar plugin. Never have much need for it.
Hope you get a permanent solution. Sorry I couldn't help.
CleanPageDomParticipantHi Doug
So if you add
.primary-sidebar { }
in the CSS, then what happens?Dom
CleanPageDomParticipantHi Doug
Do you have a link? I'm afraid I'm not very good at visualising! 🙂
If you use Inspect Element (or similar) in your browser, you should be able to find something specific enough to the sidebar to style it individually.
Thanks
Dom
CleanPageDomParticipantCleanPageDomParticipantHi there.
Try:
if (is_front_page () )
if it is the front page.
Or:if (is page ('ID IN HERE') )
Thanks
Dom
CleanPageDomParticipantDoes the autoresponder code include any php? If so, it won't work out of the box in widgets, you'd need to add a plugin or amend the functions.php file.
Thanks
Dom
CleanPageDomParticipantTo be honest, it just looks quite blurred, like it's been resized. Did you resize it when you uploaded it?
The lutea.com image is 935px wide, scaled up to 990px. The Genesis version is 1140px wide. Can you resize the original image (in PhotoShop or similar) to 1140px wide and try uploading that?
Thanks
Dom
CleanPageDomParticipantCleanPageDomParticipantHi there
It's perhaps not best practice, technically speaking, but could you add:
span.entry-comments-link a { display: none; }
in style.css?Thanks
Dom
CleanPageDomParticipantDon't know for sure without a demo, but is it applying an opacity to the non-hover state? So it knocks back the colors?
November 20, 2014 at 6:18 am in reply to: How to separate homepage sections into 3 separate sections? #132261CleanPageDomParticipantIf I'm understanding you correctly, you need three widget areas within the Home Section 5 widget area (or rather, three areas where the home section 5 area currently sits) - You could still use the "one-third" classes, but enews extended doesn't have a shortcode, so it currently needs its own widget area.
How are you with functions.php? This could be a solution: http://sridharkatakam.com/display-widgets-columns-using-genesis-column-classes/
It adds a widget area and then allows you to assign classes to each, so you can then apply the "one-third" classes and have them arrange that way.
Thanks
Dom
CleanPageDomParticipantI would imagine using a different theme. Did you set up the current site yourself? It might just be a case of switching the theme and then making any necessary adjustments. It would still take a while to do, though; particularly if images etc have been purposely resized for the Associate theme or there are specific custom widgets that aren't compatible with the new theme.
I feel bad that you were given the wrong advice to start with.
Thanks. That's my youngest, Peggy, when she was about 6 months. She's two and a half now.
