Hi Tom,
Thanks for pointing that. I forgot one in this post but not in my stylesheet though... So I still don't know why it won't work..
Has someone an idea?
Kind regards.
May 3, 2014 at 10:53 am in reply to: add dots or small png between each menu item in nav bar #103472ChrysMemberHi Lauren,
Finally I have used a background-image (useful if I want to include my own images) and I have played a bit around and added this code to lifestyle pro.
.genesis-nav-menu a {
background-image: url(images/blackdot.png);
background-position: 0 50%;
background-repeat: no-repeat no-repeat;
border: none;
color: #fff;
display: block;
padding: 20px 24px;
position: relative;
}
It's almost perfect. The only problem I've got is ideally I wouldn't want one dot before the first word in my navigation but I don't know if it's possible to do so... I've seen it on blogs but even if look at the code I don't know how they do to inclue little images or dots between each elements but not in front of the first one...
If anyone has an idea you're welcome 😉 anyway, I'll keep searching.Kind regards

Thanks for that. I'll try it.
No worries, that's already great that you take time to help me with that and as I told you I'm in a learning process so I will try this and play around. I'll try tomorrow (it's the evening where I live) .Do you know a good site or good book that can help me with styling things like that in css on genesis or more general?
I understand css rules but to apply them I read some themes in order to understand how things work but maybe there's another way to learn better...?Thanks a lot!

May 1, 2014 at 11:37 am in reply to: add dots or small png between each menu item in nav bar #103203ChrysMemberHi,
Can you tell me more? I am a beginner and learning css by myself.. Where do I place this selector? And in which part of genesis css? Primary nav bar for example?
I'm a bit lost and couldn't find an answer on google 🙁Thanks for your help!
Best regards
ChrysMemberHi,
Thank you all for these answer!
I was a bit confused because I saw different method on different theme and with genesis I didn't understand the @import for google fonts, I get it now!As for fonts that are not from google thanks susan and Joey! I understand it doesn't work the same way.
I'll practice now 😉
Kind regards
Chrys
ChrysMemberHi David and Andrea,
Think you both for your answers.
@andrea, if I understand there is not so often new updates for the child theme we find here, am I correct? The most important is to update the genesis framework, is it?
@david, I understand your procedure. I think I could deal for the moment with code comparing because I don't make huge changes for now. But I have a question about that. Is there a tool, an app, a program of some sorts that allow to compare two files and point out the difference?
Actually I have a security plugin in wordpress that does that on php files so that it tells me if a hacker have succeed to go in my files and has made a change. I find that it's a great tool to compare files but I don't know if such a thing exists for css files for example..
If someone have heard of some tool I'd like a name 😉Kind regards

ChrysMemberHi Lauren,
Yes the margin top it is! I struggled a bit to find where to add it but added it on
.site-header .widget-area {
float: right;
text-align: right;
width: 800px;
margin-top: 30px;
}And there it goes 😉
Thanks
Chrys
ChrysMemberHi,
I have manage to create a 320 x 120 px white image where I have put the logo so it's okay now. This only concern I have is that with an image that size there is a large white space under the widget menu in header right.
How can I reduce this space or center the nav menu so that there is as much space under and on top?
I have seen a related topic about that but didn't understand it..https://www.dropbox.com/s/xnurzzya0iqzvfz/Page_Layouts.jpg
Kind regards !
Thanks a lot
Chrys
