Hi,
You can change each of those widget areas in style.css to be 100% (instead of roughly 33%) and that should stack them on top of each other (full-width) instead of side by side.

cdilsParticipantHi,
Easy = Not really, if you've made changes to the core theme files (i.e. style.css, functions.php, or home.php).
If you've made extensive changes to your original Metro, I'd recommend just updating to Genesis 2.0 and optionally enable HTML5 (if you do the latter, you'll need to update your CSS from XHTML to HTML5 markup per this: http://my.studiopress.com/docs/genesis-markup-comparison/).
If you haven't really done customizations beyond what you find in Genesis > Theme Settings and your widget areas, go for the upgrade to Metro Pro. 🙂

The filter is still available, it's just not included by default in 2.0 themes.
You can use the
[footer_backtotop]
shortcode if you're using Genesis Simple Edits.If you really want to get your nerd on, look in the Genesis source code at lib/structure/footer.php and you can see where that code is called. 🙂

September 15, 2013 at 2:00 pm in reply to: How to display Custom Post Types (Custom Post Type UI plugin used) #62670cdilsParticipantHey Tracey,
Sounds like you're needing a custom archive template? Can you give a usage example of what type of post types and taxonomies you're wanting to combine on a single page?
This link might help you start thinking about archive templates automatically included in WP: http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Hierarchy
Here's another article on creating an archive page for a CPT: http://www.carriedils.com/custom-post-type-archive-template/

cdilsParticipantHi there,
If you want to use the plugin, you'll have to modify the image sprite. I don't recommend modifying the plugin (then you won't be able to apply any plugin updates as it will overwrite your changes)
I'd recommend either finding a different plugin or just using your own images/links.

cdilsParticipantHi there,
Are you wanting the *same* text block at the top of all single blog posts? If so, something like this might be a better approach:
http://www.briangardner.com/email-newsletter-signup-box/
But instead of adding the content after post, you'd want it before the post, so use
genesis_before_post
(if you don't have HTML5 enabled)
genesis_before_entry
(if you DO have HTML5 enabled)NOT
genesis_after_post_content
Cheers,
Carrie

I'm looking at your site and it seems the issue is fixed? If you're still having problems, let me know (and which browser/OS you're seeing the problem in, if it's not in all of them).

I checked your stylesheet and the buttons are picking up the styling from the tutorial... Do you have "Icon + text" selected?

cdilsParticipantHi there,
The #title-area tag does have some mobile CSS built-in to drop it to 100%. Can you post a link of where you're having problems and I'll see if I can help?
Curious what HTML5 upgrade listing you're referring to - if there's an official list, I missed it (and would love to see it)!

cdilsParticipantHi Mike,
If I'm understanding correctly, I think you could create two widget areas above the header (float one left, one right) and go from there.
Here's some code samples to a "utility bar" comprised of two widget areas you can place above the header:
https://gist.github.com/cdils/6489355 (add to stylesheet)
https://gist.github.com/cdils/6489328 (add to functions.php)Let me know if that's not what you meant and I'll try to help.
Cheers,
Carrie

cdilsParticipantHey Angie,
Does the function change the output at all (if you're looking in your source are you seeing <span class="number">)?The filter is still valid (see http://my.studiopress.com/docs/filter-reference/), but it looks like it accepts 2 arguments - $output, $args. Not sure if the absence of $args matters, but what do I know? 🙂
I'll see if Gary can stop by and comment...

cdilsParticipantHi,
I don't see the issue anymore - did you get it fixed? Was thinking you may just need a "clear: both" on the footer widget section.

cdilsParticipantHi there,
Open up style.css and search for this:
#home-featured .featured .widget { clear: none !important; float: left; text-align: center; width: 25%; }
If you want to just use 2 columns, change that width to 50% (and just leave the 3rd and 4th featured widget areas blank).
Similar for downsizing to 3 columns - just change the width to 33% and ignore the 4th featured widget area.
Cheers,
Carrie

cdilsParticipantHi there,
In WordPress vernacular, both pages and posts are a considered a "post type", so the genesis_after_post_content hook isn't reserved just for posts. (Here's more info in nerd terms).
To do what you're wanting, tou'll need to use a conditional statement along with that hook to only display on pages. Here's an intro tutorial to conditional statements. You'll want to use the is_single() check to only show you're info on posts.
So you might have a conditional that looks like:
add_action ( 'genesis_after_post_content', 'add_my_stuff' ); function add_my_stuff() { if ( ! is_single ) return; echo 'add your text here'; }
Cheers,
Carrie

August 21, 2013 at 3:59 pm in reply to: How to insert Facebook Like Button via functions.php in eleven40 Pro? #58039cdilsParticipantHi Chris,
I highly recommend using the Genesis Visual Hook Guide plugin to see where you can hook in on your pages.If you want to go above the post title, try hooking into either genesis_before_entry or genesis_entry_header.
Unless you're using a custom template, you'll need to add something like this to your functions.php:
add_action ( 'genesis_before_entry', 'my_post_extras' ); function my_post_extras() { if ( ! is_single() ) return; echo 'blah blah'; // add custom output here }
I didn't test that code, so use with caution. 🙂

cdilsParticipantHi Alison,
Looking at your source code, the paragraph tags were successfully added to your author box - you're just missing the CSS to add the margin to them.Try adding this:
.author-box p {
margin-bottom: 20px; //change to however much margin you want
}Cheers,
Carrie

cdilsParticipantHi,
You can do it, but it will require some comfort with php and css. If you purchase the Backcountry theme (or have the developer pack), you can re-use the code from home.php (you might also have to grab some widget areas from functions.php) in Going Green. You'll also want to grab the corresponding homepage CSS to keep the mobile responsivness.
In short, it can be done, but it's an intermediate level customization. 🙂
Cheers,
Carrie
