What if you added a conditional in your functions file? Something like this maybe:
add_action( 'genesis_entry_header', 'bw_remove_blog_page_title' ); function bw_remove_blog_page_title() { if ( is_page( 'blog' ) ) { remove_action( 'genesis_entry_header', 'genesis_do_post_title' ); } }
Brad WestMemberThis guys code is working for me: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13369406/attempting-to-mute-sound-on-youtube-video-playlist-autoplay
Brad WestMemberThis is how I do it:
remove_action( 'genesis_meta', 'genesis_load_stylesheet' ); add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'genesis_enqueue_main_stylesheet', 15 );
I originally found this on Carrie Dils's site: http://www.carriedils.com/woocommerce-genesis-important-style/
Brad WestMemberNot sure how that's happening if you've turned off the HTML5 markup. Here are my settings for a that's doing exactly what you're asking: http://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/246485/4e1480361971d25d07e43109a9236695
Brad WestMemberThe Daily Dish theme wasn't built to be a full-width theme, you could make it so, but it will take a little hacking on your css.
Here's what I was able to get with some quick tweaking: http://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/246462/e8cca2d8fce6e7d12b77ac81f1dc5d78 Not great, but I think it's what's you're aiming for, right?
Gardner and company don't usually build themes using percents. They tend to use hard pixel widths and resize with media queries. The screenshot above uses percents as that was easier to do quickly. You could do some in-browser changes since the site is live and only you would see these changes before you updated the styles on the server. Right click on your page and click "Inspect Element." This will open your Developer Tools and you can see the HTML on the left and the CSS on the right. Poke away. No changes will be saved, but you can get an idea about what is possible.
I'm not sure if I've made things better or worse here. What you're asking for isn't a quick change. You're making structural changes that will affect all other areas on the page. It might be faster and easier to get one of the magazine themes.
Brad WestMemberCheck again. I see your site-title as the H1 tag.
Here's what I'm seeing: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4eio40ph0hafchn/Screenshot%202015-05-21%2009.51.51.png?dl=0
Brad WestMemberDo you have a link to the site you're working on or is it not live? I tried looking at the Altitude demo, but since it doesn't have an image I can't see how it behaves.
Brad WestMemberI think you're wanting this: http://fins.jonsimon.info/#front-page-2
So instead of #menu, use #front-page-2
Brad WestMemberIt looks like it's trying to use dashicons for the menu icon, but you're not calling the dashicons css in your
<head>
. You've already got Google Fonts loading so you probably have in your functions file something like this:add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'geneplate_enqueue_scripts' ); function geneplate_enqueue_scripts() { ... }
Just add dashicons to that function and you should be good. It will look like this:
add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'geneplate_enqueue_scripts' ); function geneplate_enqueue_scripts() { wp_enqueue_style( 'dashicons' ); }

I am still working on this. It's been pushed to the back burner since it's proving difficult. I've been digging through some tutorials on the Customizer trying to better understand how it works. But so far, no luck.March 11, 2015 at 10:30 pm in reply to: Conditional Statement Not Working to Change Site Title on Blog Page #144122Brad WestMemberAlthough, if someone can explain why that conditional in the original post isn't working, I'd love to know.
March 11, 2015 at 10:29 pm in reply to: Conditional Statement Not Working to Change Site Title on Blog Page #144121Brad WestMemberI found some discussion on StackExchange that was helpful. I decided to try again with the Blog Template, and used the below. It's working for me.
<?php /** Template Name: Life Change Blog */ //* Replace Site Title text add_filter( 'genesis_seo_title', 'custom_genesis_seo_title', 10, 1 ); function custom_genesis_seo_title( $title ) { $title = "<h1 itemprop='headline' class='site-title'>The Life Change Blog</h1>"; return $title; } //* Replace the loop. remove_action( 'genesis_loop', 'genesis_do_loop' ); add_action( 'genesis_loop', 'genesis_custom_loop' ); //* Change the content archive and loop args. add_action( 'genesis_pre_get_option_content_archive', 'child_post_content_archive' ); add_filter( 'genesis_custom_loop_args', 'child_loop_args' ); genesis(); //* Change default content to excerpts on this page. function child_post_content_archive() { return 'excerpts'; } /** * Use WP_Query args. * * @link {http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/WP_Query} */ function child_loop_args() { return array( posts_per_page => 5, ); }
March 11, 2015 at 8:57 pm in reply to: Conditional Statement Not Working to Change Site Title on Blog Page #144117Brad WestMemberI've tried creating a blog template, but I couldn't get it to work. First it doesn't change the title, but worse it doesn't display any blog posts. Do you know of any tutorials for this?
As for the conditional, the one above is in the functions file, but I can't get it to work. I tried is_page( 'blog' ), is_page( 'The Life Change Blog' ), is_page( 27 ), is_singular( 'blog' ), is_singular( 'The Life Change Blog' ) and is_singular( 27 ). None of these work. I've also tried hooking it in different places: add_action( 'genesis_site_title', 'lifechange_blog_title' );, add_action( 'genesis_seo_title', 'lifechange_blog_title' ); and add_action( 'genesis_header', 'lifechange_blog_title' );. None of this makes any difference either.
Brad WestMemberI'd look into Viewport options. It looks like it will only work with newer browsers. I've used it to make a widget area full size (see temple image here: http://iglu.in.th/), but never .site-inner.
You might get some ideas here: https://css-tricks.com/viewport-sized-typography/
Brad WestMemberPerhaps something like this:
add_action( 'genesis_entry_header', 'lc_post_date', 5 ); function lc_post_date() { the_date(); } add_filter( 'genesis_post_info', 'lc_post_info_filter' ); function lc_post_info_filter($post_info) { $post_info = 'by [post_author_posts_link] [post_comments] [post_edit]'; return $post_info; }
Brad WestMemberThat's the thing. There's no reason I can think of to set a default image unless you want to call it for display. In the examples above, you'd call it by ID. What I'd do is add an if statement to call the default image when I needed it. Something like this:
if display_featured_image && has_post_thumbnail { the_post_thumbnail(); } else { echo '<div class="featured-image"><img src="images/default.jpg"></div>'; }
Of course this being Genesis, you'll need to add that in a function and hook it somewhere.
I could be more specific if I knew when and where you wanted the images, but this should get you where you need to go.
February 27, 2015 at 2:21 am in reply to: Custom Loop for Post Listings (Blog, Categories, Tags, everything) #142501Brad WestMemberGot it...
I added an archive.php file to my theme with the below code.
<?php remove_action( 'genesis_loop', 'genesis_do_loop' ); add_action( 'genesis_loop', 'bradonomics_archive_loop' ); function bradonomics_archive_loop() { $set_year = ''; if ( have_posts() ) : while( have_posts() ) : the_post(); if( $set_year == '' ) { $set_year = get_the_date(Y); echo '<div class="wrap"><div class="group-year"><p>' . get_the_date(Y) . '</p>'; } else { if( $set_year != get_the_date(Y) ) { echo '</div>'; echo '<div class="group-year"><p>' .get_the_date(Y) . '</p>'; $set_year = get_the_date(Y); } } echo '<article>'; echo '<h3><a href="'.get_the_permalink().'">'.get_the_title().'</a></h3>'; echo '<time><span class="month">' . get_the_date(M) . '</span> <span class="day">' . get_the_date(j) . '</span> <span class="year">' . get_the_date(Y) . '</span></time>'; echo '</article>'; endwhile; endif; } genesis();
Brad WestMemberYou'll need to remove it from where it is being output now:
remove_action( 'genesis_before_post_content', 'genesis_post_info' );
Then hook it where you want it. In your case, I think this will work:
add_action( 'genesis_entry_header', 'genesis_post_info', 5 );
If that doesn't put it where you want it, check the visual hook guide: http://genesistutorials.com/visual-hook-guide/ or increase the priority (make that 5 a 1, for example).
Brad WestMemberGuess I can't post two links in one reply. Here's the other snippet: https://gist.github.com/rfmeier/5705978
