Brad DaltonParticipant
There's a plugin named Genesis Simple Headers if you don't want to edit code.
January 25, 2013 at 2:01 pm in reply to: Simple Hooks How to avoid it coming up in post excerpts #14720Brad DaltonParticipantHere's an example:
<?php if (is_single() ) { ?> <p>HTML-Goes-Here</p> <?php } ?>
January 25, 2013 at 1:47 pm in reply to: Changing out Genesis Responsive Slider for JQuery Carousel on Home Page #14716Brad DaltonParticipantIf your want a slider to display in any of the Genesis hook locations, i suggest easing slider. Its easy to add using a shortcode or single line of php.
You can add the code to your template files, Genesis hooks plugin or custom functions.
Here's a basic tutorial showing you how easy it is to display on the home page using a conditional tag.
One of the best carousel plugins is http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/carousel-without-jetpack/
This plugin is one of the modules included in Jetpack so its made by Automattic without any modifications.

Brad DaltonParticipant!is_home() If its Not the home page.
is_home() If its the home pagehttp://codex.wordpress.org/Conditional_Tags
You're also going to have a problem with this code:
/** Add support for custom header */ add_theme_support( 'genesis-custom-header', array( 'width' => 960, 'height' => 115 ) );
The height is different for the homepage and other pages so you'll need a conditional tag here also as you header image banners are different heights.
The code i supplied works for me. The only problem is the gap caused by the banner height difference
Brad DaltonParticipantYou'll need to remove the large banner header from Appearance > Header if you add the code i posted because its added using the HTML in the code.
Brad DaltonParticipantYou could put the home page header image HTML with a conditional tag in the genesis_header Hook
<?php if (is_home() ) { ?> <div><a href="http://127.0.0.1:4001/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/header1.png"><img src="http://127.0.0.1:4001/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/header1.png" alt="header1.png" width="960" height="115" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-180" /></a></div> <?php } ?>
This works as i tested it. Change the hook location if needed.
Brad DaltonParticipantNo because the default blog template doesn't allow for adding content before the posts
Brad DaltonParticipantWhich plugin are you using for this?
There is a new plugin which i have tested and has been co developed by severals guys at Automattic.
Brad DaltonParticipantNo problem. Firstly i wanted to see if you are happy with the position of the smaller banner.
Now we Just need to remove the larger header from all pages except the home page right?
Or you can take Johns suggestion and use CSS
Brad DaltonParticipantLooks fine and it doesn't display on the home page. Is this what you wanted?
Brad DaltonParticipantSometimes this can be caused by div tags being added which you can check in your text (HTML) editor.
Brad DaltonParticipanthahaha. Sorry didn't answer your question on the widget.
This is only for the banner to display on all pages excluding the home page.
'I’d also need the banner area for all of the other pages to be half the height of the home page banner. Is that an easy fix?'
Yes. Make the banner half the height.
Try this first please and then we'll hit the widget.
Brad DaltonParticipantUsing File Manager in cPanel is fine. Same as FTP
Upload the new blog page template to your child theme.
Make sure you saved it using a text editor like Notepad++ as a php file.
Then add the code to your child themes functions.php file to register the widget and hook it into the top of the blog page.
Brad DaltonParticipantThis is exactly what i used on my local system. I uploaded the image using the exact width from the header with align centre.
Pasted this code in this hook location.
genesis_before_header Hook
<?php if ( !is_home() ) { ?> <div><a href="http://127.0.0.1:4001/wordpress/?attachment_id=178" rel="attachment wp-att-178"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-178" alt="banner" src="http://127.0.0.1:4001/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/banner.png" width="960" height="115" /></a></div> <?php } ?>
Brad DaltonParticipantUsing conditional tags with the Genesis Simple Hooks plugin.
<?php if ( !is_home() ) { ?> <div>Banner-HTML-Code-Goes-Here</div> <?php } ?>
