Brad DaltonParticipant
Here's the instructions which show you how to setup the 4 featured page widgets on the home page. http://my.studiopress.com/setup/outreach-theme/
Brad DaltonParticipantHow about the width of the home page?
This will force full width if you paste it into the home.php file
add_filter( 'genesis_pre_get_option_site_layout', '__genesis_return_full_width_content' );
You'll then need to edit your CSS for the home widgets
Brad DaltonParticipantThat won't work because they need unique i.d's
You can copy them in the functions.php, home.php file and the style.css files but change the i.d's in all files so they are unique including the css selectors.
Example:
'id' => 'home-middle-left-2', 'id' => 'home-middle-right-2',
.home-middle-left-2 { float: left; width: 290px; } .home-middle-right-2 { float: right; width: 285px; }
Tested locally and works.
You could simply add more than one widget to each of the default home widgets.
Brad DaltonParticipantGo to line 379 in your child themes style.css file and change the values for the properties you want to edit for your Primary navigation menu.
You can also use Firebug addon for Firefox to test this on your live site.
Brad DaltonParticipantHere's an easier way:
.single-portfolio #audit-box { display:none; }
Brad DaltonParticipantWould be easier to create an after post widget area for your audit box and add the conditional tag to code or add it to the widget using the Widget logic plugin.
Brad DaltonParticipantThe audit-box after your posts correct?
If so, add a custom post class to the custom post type in your child themes functions.php file and use that class as the selector to display none using CSS.
This code will remove the audit box from the post with i.d 4833
.postid-4833 #audit-box { display:none; }
Or remove the audit box from all posts assigned to the Portfolio post type after adding a custom post class to the portfolio post type:
.custom-post-class #audit-box { display:none; }
Or add the conditional ! if ( 'portfolio' == get_post_type() to your custom coding used to create and display the audit-box

! if ( 'portfolio' == get_post_type()
What do you mean by the call out box? Are you referring to the Genesis eNews extended widget?
If its a widget, you can use that conditional tag.
Can you paste a url to the exact portfolio post.
February 8, 2013 at 2:21 am in reply to: remove , date ,comment, tag etc from category archive view #18883Brad DaltonParticipantYes, always happy to accept work.
To add styles to a specific category archive page you can use a custom class and use the class as your selector with a declaration for the border property:
add_filter( 'body_class', 'add_body_class' ); function add_body_class( $classes ) { if ( is_category( '1st-grade' ) ) $classes[] = 'custom-class'; return $classes; }
February 8, 2013 at 1:33 am in reply to: Show only Generate Box and Footer widgets on Homepage #18876Brad DaltonParticipantMany ways to do this. Using CSS and display:none is the easy way but its not best practice:
.home #content{ display: none; }
Here i added the generate box using php to a copy of the landing page template using a conditional tag and editing the different elements which are filtered out using the default remove action for the landing page:
/** Add Generate Box after header **/ add_action( 'genesis_after_header', 'generate_box', 10 ); function generate_box() { if ( is_page( '37533' ) ) { echo '<div id="generate-box"><div class="wrap">'; dynamic_sidebar( 'generate-box' ); echo '</div><!-- end .wrap --></div><!-- end #generate-box -->'; } } // Remove header, navigation, breadcrumbs, footer widgets, footer add_filter( 'genesis_pre_get_option_site_layout', '__genesis_return_full_width_content' ); remove_action( 'genesis_before_loop', 'genesis_do_breadcrumbs'); genesis();
.page-id-37533 #content{ display: none; }
Creating a custom home.php or custom page template is better than using CSS to hide content.
February 8, 2013 at 12:23 am in reply to: How to shift existing Social sharing icons to top of posts? #18872Brad DaltonParticipantBrad DaltonParticipantThere's a setting which should stop this under Appearance > Header no repeat or you can add some CSS to your child themes style.css file.
Bit hard to use Firebug to test this because you have no right click blocked.

You can also use this code to remove the post meta and post info from archive pages only by using a conditional tag:

Brad DaltonParticipantHere's 2 posts about removing widgets in Genesis.
http://www.briangardner.com/code/unregister-genesis-widgets/You can remove the code from the functions.php file and you could also remove the code from the home.php file.
/** Register widget areas */ genesis_register_sidebar( array( 'id' => 'home-featured-1', 'name' => __( 'Home Featured #1', 'minimum' ), 'description' => __( 'This is the home featured #1 section.', 'minimum' ), ) ); genesis_register_sidebar( array( 'id' => 'home-featured-2', 'name' => __( 'Home Featured #2', 'minimum' ), 'description' => __( 'This is the home featured #2 section.', 'minimum' ), ) ); genesis_register_sidebar( array( 'id' => 'home-featured-3', 'name' => __( 'Home Featured #3', 'minimum' ), 'description' => __( 'This is the home featured #3 section.', 'minimum' ), ) ); genesis_register_sidebar( array( 'id' => 'home-featured-4', 'name' => __( 'Home Featured #4', 'minimum' ), 'description' => __( 'This is the home featured #4 section.', 'minimum' ), ) );
February 7, 2013 at 2:00 am in reply to: remove , date ,comment, tag etc from category archive view #18599Brad DaltonParticipantInstall the Genesis Simple Edits plugin and remove the shortcodes.
Brad DaltonParticipantCould you clarify please?
I have this theme installed locally and cannot find any welcome text on the landing page template
February 7, 2013 at 1:55 am in reply to: Show only Generate Box and Footer widgets on Homepage #18597Brad DaltonParticipantAn easy way to do this would be to install the Widget Logic plugin and add is_home() to the widget logic field which is added to all widgets.
Don't forget you also have Generate Box plugin settings like this:
Display Settings > Enable and display Generate Box > Enable Generate Box on front page?
Brad DaltonParticipantBrian Gardner has written a very easy to follow tutorial which you can use for this: http://www.briangardner.com/welcome-text-widget/
Change the code to something like this:
add_action( 'genesis_before_footer', 'custom_welcome_text' ); function custom_welcome_text() { genesis_widget_area( 'welcome-text', array( 'before' => '<div class="welcome-text widget-area">', ) ); }
You could add a conditional tag to this code if you want to display the widget content on the home page only or you can simply install the Widget Logic plugin and add is_home() to the widget logic field.
