    It looks as if my magic answer is finding out what the EXACT size of picture that I need. 1140 x 350 seesm to do the trick.

    That still leaves me with the NAV not like the example on the education demo. The arrows are on both sides of the pic and mine are both on the left.

    OK, Already been there AND http://my.studiopress.com/tutorials/using-the-genesis-slider-plugin/. Thought it might be that The images were uploaded before the slider settings were changed. so I deleted the images and reuploaded larger images. Result was worse.

    Watched a Youtube video also and added the regenerate thumbnails plugin. It seems like something is over riding the Display Settings listed
    Maximum Slider Width (in pixels): 970
    Maximum Slider Height (in pixels): 340
    Display Next / Previous Arrows in Slider? yes
    Display Pagination in Slider? yes
