MemberHmmm,
One reason it might not have worked is because I'm using Disqus instead of the ordinary comments box.
Also, I just realised. If it had worked, would it not have appeared above the comments box but below the After Post Ad?
My brain just keeps on hurting 🙂

Firstly, thanks so much for taking the time to put this together for me anitac!
My brain hurts too!
Sadly, yours might end up doing so again when you hear this.
I have done as you instructed – word for word, step by step I swear. Everything appeared as you said it would as I did as you instructed... only, well, the share buttons have disappeared. They are neither under or above the page numbers:

When I put the code back in jetpack/modules/sharedaddy/sharing-service.php the share buttons reappear, but unfortunately still above the page buttons 🙁
Is there perhaps one small step you didn't mention, or... is there perhaps some setting I may need to switch on or off?
Help me anitac, you're my only hope 🙂

MemberYeah,
Still doesn't cut it for me though.
Think I might have to contact the plugins developers as you suggest. You sure that there isn't anything that could be done to the theme's php code or anything?

MemberOh,
The alternative of making the font size more prominent is a great idea, but how do I do that?
Can I do it with a simple CSS alteration or do I need to get into the backend of my host provider and alter some php file?
Thanks again,
Ben

MemberHi Sozo,
Oh, you're right.
I just realised the share buttons came with the Jetpack plugin a guy told me to install. The rating buttons come from a Rating-Widget plugin and the facebook like button comes from the FBLike Button plugin I installed.
How does one place a template tag?
I can go to the edit plugins for each plugin and alter the php, but what code do I look for and how do I alter it?
Thanks for all your help Sozo!

MemberHi SoZo,
Okay, cool. But how do I do that?
Also, while the facebook like and rating buttons are plugins, the share buttons aren't. They came with the theme.
Is it complicated? Should I be paying someone to change it for me?
Would I send them the code for the plugins and ask them to alter it for me? What about the share buttons?
Look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers,

MemberYeah right, bummer.
The thing is though, that I have played videos from other websites on my mobile device (HTC desire HD) and some play within the site while others don't, so there would seem to be some way to make videos, at least for my HTC, play within site.
Maybe it is a case of not embedding it from youtube and putting the video on the website in a different way?
What do you think?

MemberHa ha ha,
I had responsive design bwboykin, but being far less tech savvy than someone like yourself, I didn't find it easy to customise at all. Also want the mobile version to pretty much replicate the desktop, so getting rid of responsive design worked a treat.
Ozzy!!! Once again, thank you man. Problem solved 🙂

MemberMade the site non-responsive and viewers now automatically get a zoomed out view. Thanks Ozzy!

MemberHi Susan,
Not sure I would define it as a dupe, but yes this matter was resolved by going non-responsive.

MemberHi Susan,
I have made the site non-responsive by doing as you advised and it is exactly what I wanted.
Thank you so much!!! 🙂
The only thing I have now is that the header description text on smart phones shifts to create two lines when I zoom in close - doesn't do this on desktops cause i put in a #MainWrapper (for some reason smart phones don't recognise this). Is there anyway of stopping it from doing this?
Also, the 'Papyrus' font I have chosen for the header title does't seem to work on smart phones. Is that cause smartphones don't support that font or something. Any ideas?
Thanks once again for your great help!!!

MemberHi Susan,
Thanks for your response 🙂
You've said:
The sidebar doesn’t disappear on a mobile device – it moves to the bottom of the screen…
What is the HTML, CSS or functions.php that makes it move to the bottom of the screen? Is there any way to turn this off so that it can be seen when you scroll to the right.
But, to answer your question on how to make a site non-responsive:
First you will need to remove the responsive section from your stylesheet. Then, you will need to remove the viewport metadata from your functions.php file (look for something similar to this): /** Add Viewport meta tag formobile browsers */
add_action( 'genesis_meta', 'child_add_viewport_meta_tag' );
function child_add_viewport_meta_tag() {
echo '<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0"/>';
}
I'm not sure I want to make the site non-responsive, I just don't want the side bar to move to the bottom of the screen.
Is this possible?
That said, if the site is unresponsive, does that mean that boxes won't change size to ensure that the text and media enclosed run outside the parameters of the screen?
If it doesn't mean that, then maybe non-responsive is an option..
Thanks again 🙂
