    Hi,

    I have finished setting up my wp supercache plugin and was wondering about the settings under the "preload" tab.

    1. Refresh preload cache files every ____  minute

    2. preload mode- should I enable?

    3. preload tags, categories, and taxonomies- should I enable?

    Thanks for your help, Tony

    Hello,

    Pre-loading cache just creates all your cache files at once.  By default, the cache files are generated as needed and refreshed when they become stale.  Depending on the size of your website, this could cause a lot of files to be created.

    Without pre-cache the page load will take slightly longer the first time it is accessed and the cache file is being created, it will *should* speed up significantly after the cache file is created and the requests are sent to that cache file.  Pre-loading your cache files would get around this issue.

    It is really up to you to enable this or not.

    There is also a small article by the creator of WP Super Cache about this;

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Ryan, do you know anything about the "preload tags, categories, and taxonomies" option?  The article you linked to is from 2010 and the "preload" page doesn't look like that anymore.  Thanks for your help, Tony

    Good catch.  I didn't realize the article was that old...

    ”preload tags, categories, and taxonomies” -- These are the archives.  They usually don't get hit as often as other sections of your site.  It just adds those archive pages to the pre-load stack.
