    I found a really cool plugin called wp canvas shortcodes, a cool plugin from http://webplantmedia.com that gives me access to a ton of features (columns, buttons, progress bars, etc). It works great in any page layout, but won't work in any widget areas when I use it in mce visual editor; it just displays the code. Also tried it in a straight text box. Same thing.

    Is there a remedy for this, or does anyone know why it doesn't work? It would sure be nice if it worked in the widget areas...would sure solve some problems.

    It's actually not a Genesis thing. By default, shortcodes aren't supported in WordPress widgets. You can enable them by adding this to functions.php:

    add_filter('widget_text', 'do_shortcode');

    Hey, thanks. I already tried that. Generally, I've found that most shortcodes do work in widgets, but it must be something about the way this plugin is built. All the features work great on a page, but not in the widgets. Do you know any other way to get features like..(columns, buttons, progress bars, etc) to work in widgets?

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks for responding.

    Did you try posting on the plugin developer's support forum? Seems you'd have better luck there.
