I haven't touched my website in months and am no longer able to login to the WordPress admin page. WordPress kicks the error message: "There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions."

I've tried renaming the plugins folder per the recommendations of articles online but that does nothing. Next step was to review the error logs on my site, which say:

"PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Attempt to modify property "response" on bool in /home4/mjohns05/public_html/XXXXX/wp-content/themes/genesis/lib/functions/upgrade.php:448"

This appears to be a Genesis issue.

If you haven't resolved this yet, you can reach out to your hosting provider. It sounds like the PHP version may have changed and you would need to downgrade to the version that works for your website.

If you have an outdated version of Genesis, I'd suggest uploading a fresh copy via SFTP.
