    Hello,

I am new to Studio Press (one of the reasons I joined was because of the great forum activity) and have a "newbie" question.

As the title says: Will I lose my customizations with Genesis and/or its child theme updates?

Apologies if this was discussed on another thread. Just want to make sure I know what to expect as I begin building sites using Genesis-related themes.

    Thank you!

My understanding is that the point of separating Genesis and child themes is so that Genesis can be updated without affecting the websites for which it's a platform. In theory, child themes shouldn't need updating since they are basically just style sheets. In practice, I've been using Eleven40pro for two years and during that time there have been no updates (and no need for them). Hope this helps.

Thank you, Tatami...it does help. I vaguely remember reading that somewhere when I was studying up on Genesis.

    Thanks again!
