I've been publishing two sites using Magazine Pro (the version that isn't totally block oriented). I went into VegasPublicity.com and was planning to add a new widget to the sidebar but when click on Widgets the entire widgets page is gone.
I already have existing widgets in my sidebar and they are still working but the Widgets page is gone. It says my theme has no widget blocks.
What happened and how can I fix this?

I tried disabling some plugins that I wasn't using and the page came back. I haven't had time to try to point the blame at a specific plugin, though. It still could be something else.
September 20, 2020 at 2:24 am #501109beggersParticipantAnd they are gone again. Has anyone heard of this problem or have an idea of how I can fix it?
September 20, 2020 at 2:39 am #501110beggersParticipantI noticed something else on my other site, MovieDebuts.com. That widgets page is only about half working. Widgets are no longer listed. I used to be able to drag and drop them into the sidebar. All that functionality is gone.
September 20, 2020 at 3:19 am #501111beggersParticipantI did some experimenting tonight and I was able to get my Widgets pages working again (on both my sites) by disabling the Gutenberg test plugin. Everything back to normal.
The current production version of Gutenberg is still enabled so it's definitely an issue with the text version.
Let me just ask this question. What's the easiest way to default to the Classic Editor?
September 20, 2020 at 6:10 am #501113andytcParticipantinstall the classic editor plugin , you can then choose between classic and Gutenberg
September 20, 2020 at 12:56 pm #501118AnitaCKeymasterThey've always recommended that the Gutenberg test plugin be used just for that - a test. Not in a live environment. When you say the widgets go missing - are they missing in the Customizer, missing from Appearance > Widgets?

I am testing and reporting the bugs. It's just that many plugins are being updated throughout the month and it took a while to pinpoint this problem to Gutenberg.
To answer your question, the widget page vanished from all links to it - the Customizer and Appearance/Widgets.
We need to have more people testing because a bug like that would be a disaster if the development team missed it and it got into production.

September 21, 2020 at 12:21 pm #501126AnitaCKeymasterBut you said it was related to the Gutenberg test plugin. StudioPress is testing things with Gutenberg. There's a team. Have you reported what you found to StudioPress or posted in the Github repo?

September 21, 2020 at 3:50 pm #501131beggersParticipantYes, I have reported the problem to Studiopress and the Gutenberg team.
Thanks. -
