I'm not sure I am going to use a Studiopress theme....major bummer since I paid for Genesis. The thing is that they don't fill a web page. I don't like that look. Let me know if there is something that I don't understand, if there is a way or some themes that fill the whole page?

    Thanks.

    This one does http://demo.studiopress.com/eleven40/

Nobody likes to read from one side of the screen to the other.

The best content width is around 600px as its easier to read.

I'll second what Brad said - viewing a site where the content took up the entire width would be a poor user experience.

I've never understood the concept – I mean why some people think a web site should fill the entire "page" – for lots of reasons it doesn't make sense.

So then, Dragonfly, I'd be interested to hear the reasons why you prefer that look.

DragonFly, you have to not think of design as a personal preference of what you like and don't like. Ultimately you carry your own style over with what works and what doesn't work. That's what matters.

Unfortunately, in most cases, a full width site doesn't work as well as one that's not full width (reasons in above posts). And with more and more computers using wide screens, it makes it more difficult to create a solid user experience with a full width site.

That's not to say that elements of your site can't be full width, like background images, etc., but when it comes to content, stick to a container.

Thank you all very much. Im not experienced with making a website at all, but I am experienced on the web. These themes look like they just don't take up enough of the screen compared with the average website. I totally understand what you are saying about a full width site being way too much on wide screen monitors.

OK so I understand then that the studiopress themes are normal.

Are they all suitable for tablets and smart phones too?

I'm thinking of using the associate theme here http://demo.studiopress.com/associate/
