I'm about to embark on a new project on a shoestring budget, and I'm looking for a designer and a developer that know their way around WordPress/Genesis that fancy getting involved either:
a) as a side project (for the fun of it)
b) as a mentor to help when things get sticky (for the karma of it)
c) to use as a real-life learning experience and a showcase/portfolio site to help win more paid work (for the personal-and-career-development benefit of it!)
In the last few months I've put together 4 sites on Genesis - project managing one for a larger budget using a remote designer and a remote developer, and customising StudioPress themes myself for the other 3 sites.
I'm a digital marketer with a "big agency" background, but neither a coder nor a designer. I've used WordPress for many sites and for a number of years so I think this should be a pretty quick turnaround, albeit with a few plugins* plus some expert help here and there.
[*the plugins I'm planning to use include WP User Front End, Paid Memberships Pro, and Event Calendar Pro so if you're a dab hand hacking around with any of them that would be even awesome-r]
If you'd never consider any of the options above then please don't be offended by me asking. I'm not looking to persuade people that only work for money to do something for free, or to start a flame war.
I'm looking for a couple of people like me - working on a Saturday for the love of it and confident good things come of taking action. If that sounds like you please drop me a line at [email protected] and let's talk about it 🙂
I'm looking to get some financial backing from early customers so there may be some cash available, and as it's a commercial idea hopefully there's paid work or more further down the line, but that's not guaranteed.
Wishing you a happy and productive weekend!
It's better to Tweet your wish with the hashtag #genesiswp That's much quicker and more respons
Hi, my name is Jan Hoek. Sure, they all say I have a big head, but I like to think it’s way too small for all my ideas.
Thanks Jan! Really appreciate the tip and have just tweeted out.
Wasn't aware of that hashtag and spent the last hour catching up with all the great content.
