I'm a novelist who knows less than he thinks about CSS and WordPress and websites. Over the years, I've hired a couple different consultants to revise my site ( http://seeleyjames.com and http://test.seeleyjames.com ) but I'm the worst kind of client: I don't know what I want and change my mind anyway. I've been hacking at it for five years and those two links is the current status. I'd like to have a simpler site with special landing pages for different types of readers. I know how to make the pages, posts, links, buttons, etc. But I don't know much about Studiopress, Genesis, and my themes Author Pro and Parallax Pro.

Is there a tutorial for mid-level operators other than the installations? Those are nice, but the don't tell me what effect each option has and how it might help/hurt me.

    Thanks, Seeley

I'm assuming that each option you're referring to are the settings in Genesis. Please read The Genesis Beginners Guide.

For the many WordPress settings, I toggle the Help (upper right) and/or read the Codex. WordPress 101 (WP101.com) has many videos about the settings.

Thanks for the links! I searched the site for "beginners" and came up empty. Do you know if there are any similar guides to the themes? I'm trying to mesh Author and Parallax but either it doesn't work, or I'm screwing it up on the mobile side.

    Thanks again!
