I know this sounds stupid, but what actually comes with Genesis? I just want a bit of guidance. I am aware I use a third party theme, but it is the core I have questions about. My blog is a simple recipe blog. I am not wanting to monetize, just get some readers, have it secure, and be found in searches. I read all the posts about what you "need" but the only product I am selling is myself and sharing recipes. I have 26 plugins which I realize is way too many. Some I added by reading, others because I built a visual recipe index (can I safely remove those without breaking the index)? Some are to take care of the problems of FB not handling images correctly, and others because genesis and jetpack options didn't respond how I wanted. I guess I need to know what is redundant and if SEO, caching, google rank, etc. is addressed within my core. These are my plugins:
Add Signature ( 1.0 )
Akismet ( 2.6.0 )
Author Box After Posts ( 1.4 )
Clean and Simple Contact Form ( 4.3.3 )
CommentLuv ( 2.93.5 )

The framework could replace some of your current plugins, though you don't necessarily have to get rid of any of them. For example, you don't need the Author Box After Posts plugin because Genesis has that capability built in - just navigate to Users > Your Profile in the WordPress dashboard, fill in the Bio paragraph field, then scroll down and check the box to show the author box on your posts. You could also replace the Add Signature plugin with a code snippet that does the same thing if you wanted. There are a few others that could possibly be replaced/removed depending on how you're using them, but honestly, if your site isn't loading slowly, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
If you use Feedburner, there is a spot in Genesis > Theme Settings to put in your Feedburner URL to redirect your RSS feed. Genesis does have built-in SEO, which you can access in Genesis > SEO Settings.
Is there something in particular going on with your site that made you wonder about this? I'm just wondering if there was an underlying question that I might have missed. Overall, if you have no plans to monetize and you're happy with the way the site looks and functions, you should be good to go. 🙂
Hope that helps!

Greg’s Threaded Comment Numbering ( 1.5.2 )You do no tneed either of these. Genesi has a scirpts box to place the GA code in.
WordPress does threaded comments out of the box.
