I am creating a new website that will be something of a community driven news site. I don't particularly like new magazine style layouts so the site is going to be more blog style but with multiple users including anonymous posting.

It will have a few dozen categories/custom taxonomies. I want each category/taxonomy page to have its own page description with text/links/images which can be edited from admin.

Besides the usual 'posts' which I want to display on the homepage sidebar, it will have a second custom post type which will display in the center column on the homepage. Each category/taxonomy page is like the homepage but of course filtered for content.

I also want to have 'breaking news' which appears on the homepage only and of course only when there is breaking news.

I am using the Genesis framework and Dynamik child theme. I have some html and css experience, but no php.

I am looking to pay someone to help me figure out which plug-ins I can use for these tasks, what requires custom code and how to do it in the correct manner in Dynamik-Gen. I also want to learn it well enough to administer the site.

Any guidance welcome, and if someone feels competent to help me with this project and wants some work, message me. I hired someone a while back but while they were decent with php, they did not know Genesis and were resistant to following the Genesis protocols. Ended up wasting my time. So now I'm asking here!

    Cheers,
    Deva

    Hi Deva,

I'm booked up for awhile but may be able to give you some direction - feel free to contact me via the link in my signature if you'd like. Otherwise, you might try the StudioPress recommended developer list, since all of those devs are deemed competent by StudioPress itself: http://www.studiopress.com/genesis-developers
