I'm using SlimJetPack's social sharing icons because they work so well with mobile. But they only output at the bottom/end of a post. Someone showed me a bit of code that would allow me to have the buttons both at the top and bottom of a post. But now, W3C validator is giving me warnings of duplicate entries for each social service that looks like this: Line 148,

    "Column 230: Duplicate ID sharing-google-15816.
    … to share on Google+" id="sharing-google-15816"><span>Google</span><li"

And it does this for each social button I have showing.

Does anyone know how "bad" this is from an SEO point of view?

Also, If there is a way to only show those buttons at the beginning of a post, I wouldn't mind doing that to solve this problem.

    Thanks!

I wouldn't worry about it too much - I've been showing mine at the top and bottom for over a year and my posts usually show in search results with 24 hours, so I'm guessing I'm not being penalized SEO-wise for anything. 🙂
