I noticed that using the Sample Child Theme - There is no Page Template to select under Page Attributes. So I thought if I added a page_blog.php to the child theme folder I would now have a template to select for the blog Page. And yet there is still nothing appearing under Page Attributes. What am I doing wrong here?? The whole point is to have the blog page show a sidebar and it will not. It is showing the default layout I have chosen under the Genesis Settings, even though on the page it self I have selected it to have a two column layout
December 7, 2012 at 1:26 pm #3756AnitaCKeymasterYou need to look under the templates. To create a blog page - You Add New Page, then look on the right and then select the Blog template. Then save it. Add it to your menu and then it will show up all of your blog posts.

December 7, 2012 at 1:33 pm #3759genevishgraphicsMemberThat is just the thing - THERE IS NO PAGE ATTRIBUTES - nothing. nada. no where to select page template - blog. Even though I have uploaded a page_blog.php. Still nothing.
December 7, 2012 at 1:43 pm #3762AnitaCKeymasterOh, I see now - you need to scroll down and select the PAGE LAYOUT towards the bottom. You have that set to FULL WIDTH. Change it by adding a layout with a sidebar.

December 12, 2012 at 9:10 am #4699genevishgraphicsMemberI just copied the Genesis theme core blog_page.php into the child theme folder. From my understanding, I shouldn't have to do that to have the blog page show properly. Could this be happening because I have the front page set to a static page?
December 12, 2012 at 9:17 am #4702AnitaCKeymasterYes, try removing that and see if that helps.

December 12, 2012 at 9:28 am #4706genevishgraphicsMemberNo Dice. Still showing as full content, no sidebar still. I have never used the sample child theme before, I have used lots of Genesis child themes and never had a problem like this. Just so strange. I set another page, not the blog page, to show the sidebar, and it shows up just fine. So the problem is just with the blog page

December 12, 2012 at 9:53 am #4725AnitaCKeymasterCan you post a link to your site? Also, in the page template - how do you have it set up - content-sidebar or sidebar-content-sidebar, how is it set?

December 12, 2012 at 12:22 pm #4745wowgrafixMemberI am having the exact same problem with the Serenity Theme, but I don't even know enough about coding php to understand what you are saying as to how to fix it... can you guys / gals be more specific as far as how to get that "Page Attributes" box back so that I can add a blog page?
December 12, 2012 at 3:02 pm #4774wowgrafixMemberI went into the "All Pages" view and was able to change it with a quick-edit.
December 12, 2012 at 4:06 pm #4783genevishgraphicsMemberI asked Studiopress support, and they replied it is a bug they will fix in the next installment of Genesis :/
