I installed the More Privacy Options plugin from here on a Subsite and setup this user for just this Subsite:

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/more-privacy-options/

Have a user setup with Subscriber status.  When they login to that subsite...it takes them to the Dashboard, not the site.  Want them to not be dumped to the Dashboard...but instead the website (intranet) that they have been granted access to.  User is setup for that particular subsite.  Again with a Subscriber status.

Does anyone know why?  Not finding a setting anywhere that would control this.

    Thanks,

    CK

I don't think More Privacy Options by itself does what you want.

    1) More Privacy Options should be network activated in a network.
    2) When you login, by default you are taken to a dashboard unless you change the default behavior.
    3) All More Privacy Options does is add some additional settings to the Settings->Reading menu. It doesn't alter the way login redirects work.

It sounds like you need to use More Privacy Options (network activate) and on your intranet site, set the privacy option to make that site only visible to registered users of the intranet. Then, you'll need a login redirect plugin to redirect logged in users to the public facing site, not a WP dashboard. One example of a login redirect plugin is http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/peters-login-redirect/.

Thank you I did a Redirect Plugin to the Home screen and that worked!!

However... is this a pretty common method of having an intranet with a subsite setup and using these types of plugins?  Client is asking me this as well as they had another site with a membership that was not associated at all with WordPress.

I had setup a few users with Subscriber status, disabled the Toolbar for each of those.  It seems to work okay as a method for the Intranet users but would like some feedback.  Outside of this is paid memberships right?

    Thanks,

    CK

Wanted to add that an example of a login screen that is not associated with the WordPress editor (they said) is his website's login link at the top right:

Is it a "pretty common method"? Hard to say. I don't know that anyone is keeping track of what's serving this need. You and your client have to be the judge of what works for your needs. If it works well for you, I wouldn't worry how popular the method is.

    Here's another approach: http://www.simpleintranet.org/

The example you provided isn't a WP login, as you said yourself. There are lots of ways to do logins outside of WP, so all I can say is that it is what is. If your client wants you to match that in WP, you can investigate some of the many plugins to style a login form.
