I am using he daily dish theme. How do I upload images and then use them? Do I need to use code?
I am trying to use a small image of myself in the primary sidebar - how do I adjust and write a short paragraph on me?
    Thanks

Use one of the built in Genesis widgets to do this. Follow the advice

    Genesis User Profile Widget Settings

Once you fill out that widget, drag it over to your sidebar. I just did an example on my blog.

Note that I removed this widget after I did the screenshot as I am not displaying this in my side bar I moved the widget back to my footer widget where I want it to be.
