Are there detailed instructions somewhere for how to upgrade old child themes to include HTML5 markup and css changes?

Also, since the hooks have changed, doesn't this mean that any custom functions that one has added to their functions.php file will need to be edited? I haven't seen this mentioned, specifically, but obviously if the hook name has changed, any functions using old hook names will throw errors.

What is the best course of action to take with old child themes that have been customized?

    Thanks Brad.

One would still need to go thru the function.php file though to correct hooks no doubt.

    So
    1. Convert CSS: http://cobaltapps.com/genesis-xhtml-to-html5-css-converter/
    2. Enable HTML5 markup: http://my.studiopress.com/snippets/html5/
    2. Review functions.php and convert any old hooks in custom code to new hooks:

Your wonderful post, here for the reference of others, complete with new hooks info. Should have found this sooner! :

I'll run thru these steps on a test site I have and see what happens. I'm a steps person -- I like to have a clear approach to doing things like this and a good reference.
