I am a new user of Genesis and it looks exciting. Until now, I've developed child themes using the WordPress themes as parent, such as twenty-twelve, etc. I've purchased the Genesis framework and have set up the child theme that comes with the framework as a starting-point child theme. I'll have no problem styling the child theme to suit the client's design.

However, I haven't yet grasped the page layout/template options in Genesis, and how they work. When I previewed the theme, it showed examples of several layouts. However, when I went into Genesis settings, I had to select one layout as a "default" and all of my pages then use that one layout. I can't see how to change that for individual pages ... the only other choices in the admin panel are blog and archive.

All I really need is a full-page template layout as an option in the admin panel; that way, I can select the right column layout as my default and select the full-page template for any pages that don't need the right column.

Am I missing something? Thanks for any help!

When you edit a post or page, at the top go to Screen Options > Layout Settings make sure the box for Layout Settings is selected.

Now, underneath the main WYSIWYG content area, you should see Layout Settings Images for Full Width, Content-Sidebar, Sidebar Content, etc. They look like the first image in this tutorial: http://wpsites.net/web-design/flexible-custom-layouts-for-studiopress-themes/

Advanced: using PHP, you can force a layout for Posts, Pages, Categories, Custom Post Types, etc.:

Thank you so much for this information! This should give me everything I need. Appreciate the prompt response, too!
