Great job, Daniel! I like the colors on the Gerrity site and love the whole setup on the Howard's site. Just a head's up--your credit link is broken at the bottom of the Howard's site. 🙂
I like them both. I really need to learn how you did the banner, intro, etc on rachelgerrity. Are they widget areas with text widgets in them?

Sorry it took me a little while to post this info for you. Yesterday was hectic. Basically all I used to do that was some html/css and a conditional tag in WordPress. Are you familiar with conditional tags? If not here's some info from the WordPress Codex. Here are the steps I took to add those sections:
1. Added structural wraps to Genesis. Found a great tutorial here that I followed.
2. Made a copy of the header.php file and placed it into my child theme folder that way I don't mess up any core Genesis files.
3. In the header file you can see where the header and inner wrap begins. So I want to put my custom html in between the two since that's where I want it to appear on the home page.
4. In order for it to appear on only the home page I will use a conditional tag in WordPress. It looks like this:
<?php if (is_home()) { ?>
Insert your HTML here
<?php } ?>
Basically it's saying if this is the home page, then display the HTML, if not then don't. That's a pretty basic setup but it does the job. Conditional tags are great and once you get the hang of them you can do a lot of cool stuff. I did it this way b/c the client didn't want this to change so I just made it static. I could have put widget areas there but to save time I just did it this way instead.
I did the same thing for the Howard's Pawn site as well.

Hey Daniel, I would love to see an example file, if you don't mind. Seeing what you're doing with them I don't think I'm using structural wraps to their full potential! If you use Twitter I'm on that (see my sig).

Do you need to see just my functions.php for the structural wraps or do you also need the header.php file for the conditional tag setup?
Would it be possible to see both? You see the way I would have approached the Gerrity site would have been to register a new text widget area, plonk my html in there then call it on the home page using a conditional tag in home.php. But you obviously took a different approach, which I'd really like to understand better. If there's any favour I can do for you in return please let me know!
