MemberA complaint regarding the WordPress Forum! I posted a request for support as I was getting duplicate title tags on my StudioPress theme. A reply came from a member called 'Tara' who suggested I contact the Genesis support.
I had already done this and StudioPress requested I revert back to the WordPress forum as it was a known issue! The second reply from Tara was just: 'There is no such issue with the WP core'. That was it! I never said it was due to WordPress as I was simply seeking support from someone who may have a fix! Isn't this what Forums are for!
Her next reply was to use the PAID jobs.wordpress!
I requested she no longer answered my posts and assumed she was simply trolling.
The icing on the cake came when 'esmi' 'Theme Diva & Forum Moderator' wrote 'Tara is respected member of this community' and 'If the level of support offered by unpaid volunteers in this free forum is not suitable for your needs, try hiring someone instead.'
Perhaps I'm mistaken and misread her motive but do you see anything in her replies to demonstrate support except to tell me it's not WordPress and pay for help!
esmi then closed my posts! I wrote another posts to complain about this which was subsequently deleted! This is total abuse from a WordPrsss administrator/moderator!

ParticipantThat is unfortunate.
Can you provide the URL of your site in question?

MemberHi Sridhar
My url is http://www.funeventsasia.com
I found other posts in the forums with the same kind of replies. I posted to a photographer to assist him as he wasn't getting support and I got blocked from the WordPress forums!!
I will write an in depth blog on this.
Appreciate any support you may have 😉
Regards
Toni

ParticipantToni,
Although it might be possible to fix the issue by tweaking Genesis SEO settings, I recommend you to install and use Yoast's WordPress SEO plugin.
Once you have it activated reload your site's pages to see if the problem is resolved. If not, go to SEO > Titles & Metas > Post Types (tab) and you can change the placeholders for titles for various views like Pages, Posts..

MemberHi Sridhar
Unfortunately the issue started with Yoast which is one reason I removed it and set up Genesis SEO. Would changing the posts to pages fix this? My high page rank in Google has been effected and I believe pages rank just has high!

Toni

ParticipantI think this is a problem that can be fixed w/o changing Posts to Pages.
Can you activate WordPress SEO plugin, take a screenshot of settings you have SEO > Titles & Metas > Post Types (tab) and show us?

ParticipantThose screenshots are too small for me to see.
I was asking for the screenshot of WordPress SEO 'Titles & Metas' page, something like this:

Memberoops sorry. I am not using WordPress SEO as per my earlier post and removed it. O am only using the Genesis SEO
Let me re-upload some larger images. terribly sorry about that

ParticipantIn one of my earlier posts I suggested you to install and activate WordPress SEO at least while we are doing the troubleshooting. You might want to do that.
May 22, 2014 at 12:15 am #106274ToniLaird
MemberWordPress SEO actually appeared to cause this problem! If I re-install it are you saying I could possibly revert back to Genesis SEO after? I have numerous other sites with the same theme and SEO settings and only this one gives me problems.
Perhaps a silly question! My site is hosted with Pressable who do not use Apache but nginx. Perhaps I'm mistaken but I believe when changing SEO settings and permalinks in any WordPress site it will automatically edit the htaccess file. Pressable informed me any changes to the htaccess file would not work! Could this be the root of the problem although it's very strange as my other sites with exactly the same theme and settings work fantastic!
BTW I really appreciate your support

ParticipantWhen WordPress SEO is activated, Genesis SEO settings will gracefully disappear. They will automatically re-appear when WordPress SEO is deactivated.
The default settings in WordPress SEO for meta titles are good to begin with and mainly do not have the duplicate tags problem. I just want to see what your Post and Page titles will look like with WordPress SEO active.

MemberOK Sridhar Please bear with me as I have to go to a meeting. Upon my return I will re-install WordPress SEO and set it up. Originally when I had WordPress SEO I went through numerous settings which didn't work hence moved to Genesis SEO. Now my site had dropped dramatically in Google and I am still wondering about changing over to pages as I will not be blogging on this site.
I'll get back to you later today
Regards
Toni

Memberre: the WP forums. It is there policy to refer people who use paid themes back to the developers. All the forums there are staffed by *volunteers*.
When posting at the wp.org forums, if you do have issues, state what you have done to try and solve it.
". I posted to a photographer to assist him as he wasn’t getting support and I got blocked from the WordPress forums!!"
If you use abusive language, post too often, or complain too much then yes, you will get blocked.

If you need technical support for your theme please file a ticket. The forums are community based. Staff only monitors the forum for issues relating to the forum itself and to redirect users to where they need to go.

MemberAndrea
I certainly did not and never use abusive language! Thank you for that comment! I only messaged the photographer that I had sent an email and would be more than pleased to help him as he was getting the same replies I had. Following this I was blocked!I originally went into the WordPress forum to request support and provided ALL the details. Staffed by volunteers is irrelevant to mention as 'isn't this what a Forum is about! I already knew that and simply needed help. It didn't matter how long or from whom ... just someone to point me in the right direction.
Anyway I will no longer re-sign up into their forums as there were many people like me getting the same replies and being blocked!
Lets move on shall we and focus on the issue at hand 😉

I have just re-installed WordPress SEO and here's the screen capture of the settings

ParticipantI checked the meta titles for Posts and Pages in your site and they appear fine as per the settings in the above screenshot.
Coming to the homepage, it is currently:
Fun Team Building Events from Malaysia to Thailand - Fun Events Asia Team Building
The title template for Homepage in WordPress SEO (out of the box) is:
%%sitename%% %%page%% %%sep%% %%sitedesc%%
Based on the above, am guessing (as I do not know what you have entered for site name and site description in Settings > General) that homepage title is also fine.
So now, can you tell me what the problem is?
June 29, 2014 at 6:16 am #111955ToniLaird
MemberAs i don't use a posts page I removed it and only added post categories to the menu. It took over a month for the errors to clear in google webmaster. I'm very happy to say this is finally solved and I can now use genesis in peace! 😉
