    Hello,

I pasted a code that I messed around with into my custom functions PHP (my_functions.php) and was unable to access my site.

The error code showing up is:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in /home/content/42/7503442/html/wp-content/themes/genesis-sample/lib/my_functions.php on line 7

So I went over to my FTP client and found the my_functions.php file and removed the code. I thought this was going to fix it, but when I head back over to my site allaboutskinlightening.net the syntax error message still shows.

I will note that in my customs functions.php I still have this bit:

//* Do NOT include the opening php tag

Am I supposed to remove this as well? I do not want to do at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you copy the code from my_functions.php file and paste the code at pastebin.com? Next share the pastebin link. We'll check the code once

Ok, wow I just answered my own question! I removed this part:

//* Do NOT include the opening php tag

...and now it works! I'm so relieved! I can access my site/dashboard. I have officially learned my lesson when it comes to playing around with codes and making minute yet critical mistakes in them. Phew! 🙂
