I am trying to implement Stretch theme on a site and see some limitations that I would need some assistance.

    1. Can I use a landing page with this theme and if yes how? in other studiopress themes there is already a landing page template but here i do not see one.
    2. what is the best way to incorporate social media icon into this theme. as it is mobile responsive i want them to be setup in a way that are visible. i thought of creating an extra menu item but i'd prefer icons.
    3. can i replace the title item with a header image/logo and how? i want the site logo to be visible always.
    4. the footer moves in the middle of the browser window in pages that do not have enough content. any idea how to resolve it? i could disable the footer but i would prefer having it working correctly though as now it is some kind of a bug.
    5. what plugin / solution is ideal for photo gallery?

    thanks in advance!

I'll answer your questions by line number:

    1. Stretch doesn't come with a landing page as you can see. You will need to create one or if you have other SP themes, you can copy the landing page template from one theme over to Stretch and customize that.

    2. You can use the footer area for your social media buttons. You may have to hardcode them in as it's not a widgetized area.

    3. You can add a logo by going to Appearance > Header. You may have to customize the size in the functions.php file before proceeding.

    4. I am not sure how that got resolved. I know others asked this same question.

    5. You can use NexGen Gallery, or use the new Gallery feature in Jetpack. You can search the wordpress repository for some solutions that will fit your individual needs and appearance.

Thank you for the reply anitac!

unfortunately some of the suggestions do not work with this specific theme.

    here it goes:

    1. Stretch doesn’t come with a landing page as you can see. You will need to create one or if you have other SP themes, you can copy the landing page template from one theme over to Stretch and customize that.

I will check this..any suggestions on which theme to copy from?

    2. You can use the footer area for your social media buttons. You may have to hardcode them in as it’s not a widgetized area.

the footer area is kind of buggy with this theme. if the post / page does not contain a lot of text / content the footer moves up even in the middle of the browser/screen! i have asked for help from support but still no answer and i worry that if i do not get a solution i would have either to change theme or disable footer...any ideas?

    3. You can add a logo by going to Appearance > Header. You may have to customize the size in the functions.php file before proceeding.

in this theme there is not such an option...any other suggestion on how to incorporate a logo?

    4. I am not sure how that got resolved. I know others asked this same question.

    5. You can use NexGen Gallery, or use the new Gallery feature in Jetpack. You can search the wordpress repository for some solutions that will fit your individual needs and appearance.

i will check this but i am afraid that the limitation of widget areas will cause me a problem. i still wait for official support on this as there must be a way to show a photo gallery in a such a nice and fully responsive theme...

hope others can give a hand here...;)

still, thank you very much for your help !!

Let me ask you this... What is it about Stretch that you like because it seems that all the things you want - are NOT incorporated in this theme. So... what specifically caught your eye?

It is not loaded and it quite a "clean" theme, but the fact that I want to add the following

    1. a logo img in the header instead of the text
    2. social media icons
    3. a decent looking photogallery

should be prerequisites for any theme in the world....

the landing page is an extra that i'd like to see given SPs tendency to offer it in some of their themes.

still, i can tolerate some features missing in order not to overload a clean theme like this - that i guess was the initial concept of the theme.

but still how you launch a theme with a critical bug - i refer to the footer moving higher in low-content pages - and after so many months you have not fixed this??

hope i made my view clear.

I asked this question because the Metro theme gives you everything you want. Here is a perfect example. Ted Vierira, customized Metro. I think you could use Metro. Turn on opaque features like he did, use full width like Stretch. You have all the featured area, widgets, etc.

    http://blackandwhitelife.com/

He did a beautiful job. You just need to customize Metro like this.

PS... in regards to the snippet - "you have not fixed this??" I hope you didn't think I created that theme and was referring to SP. 🙂

this is indeed a great looking site!

is there a guide on how to do similar customization on Metro theme?

No there isn't a guide on any customization of any theme. You can install Firebug with Firefox, target the areas you want to customize and go from there. Or you can hire a freelancer to do those edits to the theme for you.

One more thing to note - this is the community forum, not support. If you have technical issues related to Stretch, you need to go to my.studiopress.com and submit a support ticket.

I am familiar with Firebug and it's indeed very practical.

Regarding freelancer, although not planning to use one in the current project, where do you suggest looking for one and what are their rates for such a work?

    thank you!

p.s. the topic is still unresolved so anyone else able to give a hand please feel free 🙂

You can post for a freelancer here, which I am also one of. You can look at the Showcase for a developer here - http://www.studiopress.com/showcase. You can post to Twitter using hashtag #GenesisWP also. As for rates, you will need to inquire with each individual developer as they all have different rates. I will unsubscribe from here now as this is as much as I can offer at the moment. Good luck on your project.

i did send a ticket and the response just came that it 's so general...i tell them there is a bug or in any case this should not look like this with the footer and they tell me to search the forum or use firebug!!

common guys...one thing that distinguishes your brand from others is service..this request is not for customization but rather for a bug that you should have tackled already..
