I have a database of over 100 local college athletes. I update their stats two to three times a week from their teams' websites. Is there a code, or program, available that I can use to automatically download their stats when updated? The information is public. I am trying to minimize the time it takes to update my database.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

What is the data source you're pulling the data from and how are you saving it in your site?

I'm sure it'd be easy enough to automate this process but without knowing more I can't really help.

Let me know a bit more and I'll try and help.

    Chris

    Hi Chris,

    Thanks for your time.

I want to track the statistical progression of local lacrosse players. This progression runs from game one through to their season's conclusion. Some require updates more frequently than others. There are over 100 players now and my plan is to expand to at least 250-300. Currently I update the changes manually by linking to the appropriate team/player page and updating my information on an excel spreadsheet. This sheet is then saved and imported as a CSV into TablePress 1.0.

My sources are various college and university athletic page (Men's Lacrosse) statistics. (One example: http://www.bryantbulldogs.com/sports/mlax/2012-13/teams/bryant?view=lineup. On most pages I am able to click on a player to be directed to his game by game stat page.). From this source I would need to gather the statistical information from one or more players. This example is a year end total but I would need to update two-three times per week as the season progresses.

My site is http://www.bounceshots.com. It has not been updated as the process became overwhelming, hence my plea. I use current versions of Genesis, Prose and TablePress. I have looked into WikiScraping but am having trouble understanding.

I hope this helps and please let me know if you need additional info.

    Best regards,

    John
