    Hi

With the recent change to Chrome, I was wondering if most WP bloggers have installed a simple or extended SSL certifcate on their sites regardless of where it is hosted. TO me it seems like overkill hence, the question.

    Hi

I use Let’s Encrypt which is free. Doesn't make any difference to SEO based on my stats.

That's an excellent tip. I have followed this up with my hosting company tho they might have a conflict of interest, given they are offering a range of certs from £60 - £180 . As I said quite a lot of expense for a non-transaction: site identity check.

Ah not available in shared environments..... ;-(

"Im afraid this will not work.

Our shared hosting environment is automatised to only accept installations from Globalsign.

Use of 3rd party ssl certificates is not possible on the shared hosting environment. Solely on unmanaged services eg our VPS or dedicated servers."

Yes, shared hosting can be a problem. I think you get what you pay for.
