Hi, I really need help on this one. I've launched my site just over a week ago, and got a great response with many Facebook shares and tweets appearing on the daily run of posts. This problem began two days ago when I installed the "Add Link to Facebook" plug-in to my Eleven40 Pro theme (the reason why is a whole other story, not worth going into!). I already had the social media buttons in Settings --> Sharing to "icon + text" as that look fit well with my site design. But when I installed that plug-in, which also involved setting up a Facebook developer app for it to work, suddenly the number appearing on the social media icons of how many shares, tweets etc. that I had disappeared. So I deleted the "Add Link to Facebook" plug-in and also the Facebook developer app immediately. However, those numbers have yet to reappear, nor will it show any number with further FB shares or tweets. The slightly good news is that the share buttons are working when I set the Sharing preferences to "official buttons" -- but not when the "more" sharing button is clicked. In fact, that doesn't even work (it should expand to show the other social media share buttons, such as Pinterest, Tumblr etc). But basically, I just want the "icon + text" version to work again (even if I have lost the previous count of shares & tweets). This is just a hunch, but I fear this is to do with js/jQuery, which I know nothing about. In any case, can anybody please help?! Any and all ideas are welcome!

That's the new way Jetpack is showing the buttons now. Do you have Jetpack installed?

Hi. Yes, JetPack is installed, as that's how I have the share buttons on my site. The default one when I installed happened to be the "icon only" (round icon) out of the four options, but I went for "icon + text" as mentioned. Since my post above, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling JetPack -- but then had a whole new problem as the JetPack plugin could no longer access my site. I've been in touch with JetPack support on that, and that one's resolved. JetPack is installed again. But those numbers are still not appearing in "icon + text" mode, only on "official buttons" mode. Any suggestions?
That's a setting inside Jetpack managing when and how the numbers show up. You should probably ask them if that's possible with the new look.

Perhaps I should have mentioned at the beginning that my social share buttons came from JetPack. In any case, I also told JetPack support, who helped indirectly by tracking down & letting me know the exact code causing the problem. My hunch on it being js was correct. And I then tracked down the plugin using that exact line of js, and deleted it. Social share buttons with the "icons + text" working -- just as they were before. Problem solved.
Great, when in doubt... deactivate your plugins and start activating one by one. That will typically narrow down if it's a plugin problem.
