I have recently read some opinions from some highly regarded wordpress and page builder developers that a portfolio should really come from a plugin rather than the theme. They say that it is a function rather than design so it should be a plugin. Without using a portfolio for example if I switched from say, Modern Portfolio to Altitude I would then be without a portfolio.

If that's the case, what are recommended plugins for a portfolio in Genesis?

I use Go Portfolio on my website (http://www.aenigma-images.com). It has the potential to create really elegant portfolios and it is extremely configurable. The downside is that there's quite a steep learning curve (at least that's how I found it) and the instructions are pretty inadequate so you have to be prepared to put in some time and effort to get it working as you want it to. I think it's worth it, though. Good luck.

tatami, do you ever have any issues with Go Portfolio? I tried using it once and it blew up. I could never get it to work after the initial install.

No, I can't remember having any issues along the lines you've mentioned. As I said, there's definitely a learning curve and not enough help by way of documentation. But if you can find your way around it, then it's capable of delivering great results in my opinion. If you haven't already done so, take a look at my website (link above). Have you tried contacting Granth to resolve your problem?

I haven't. I got a little frustrated and bagged the plugin altogether. It worked for a while, but my recollection was I changed something in the theme I was using that created the problem. I may give it another try. 🙂 Thanks for responding.

I went with essential grid. It's great.
