    Dear Gurus:

Bought and Loaded genesis and the metro child theme, after dumping headway. Actually I did a fairly nice site with Headway, after starting with some free templates, but I was running into problems installing buddypress, and I felt the Headway interface was clunky, even though it  works.

Looking to use most of the defaults as per the metro original template. Started to work on the header, but what is 1000x 87? Used the advanced setting, for a 550x300 but no avail, through the standard wp menu.

Also started to load  beyondwhispering.org/references  web page, as saved in the wp editor, but the browser shows the home page with red prompts, apparently looking for style sheet info.  Again I would like to stay with the defaults, where possible. But if you eventually want to have a multimedia site,  the plugins may not get you where you want to go. At least all the way.

My knowledge of coding is close to nill, though I did a couple of sites 7-8 years ago with flash. I do have photoshop and dreamweaver. Any suggestions?  You may be harsh, it could save me time and money....

    Thank You in advance

Can you explain what you need again? Are you saying you want to use a 500 x 300 image in your header instead of the 1000 x 87? If so, you should go to Appearance > Editor then open the Functions.php file. In there look for the settings 1000 x 87 and change that to 500 x 300 and save. Then go back to Appearance > Header and upload your image again.

For the "references" link - what information was supposed to show up there. It's not showing me the home page. I also don't understand the "plugins" statement in regards to the reference page not showing up. What problem are you having with plugins and multimedia?

the references were book references approx 50 in number, a listing of author, book, and publisher.  The wp editor saves this information for the reference file, i.e. beyondwhispering.org/references, but the browser is not showing the listing. What changes need to be made to import pages created in the wp editor, to view on the site?

I am not involved in multimedia  at this time.  I just want to get the static pages up first, and then add buddypress and media.

I don't think it is a plugin, It is main wp editor for text files. You can add jpeg files and text.  I know that in Genesis these text files are formatted with a style sheet, but I am not sure of the exact procedure. That is what I am trying to figure out.

On Studio press TV I see they are inserting a small amount of text directly into a template, but what if you have large amounts of text?

    Thank You

    Jack

If you are copying a list of text from one place into your Reference Page, look for the little "T" or the little "W" on the kitchen sink (where all the icons are). Open up one of those - paste your content inside there, and save the post. You do not want to insert text into your template. If there is a template update/upgrade you may overwrite that content.

Ok, plain text, I understand.  But, why doesn't the published beyondwhispering/references page display in some fashion in the browser?  And the red tags? are these referenced in any documentation? Where would I look in the documentation to find my mistakes?

    Thank You

    Jack
