MemberHi,
I am using Yoast SEO plugin on Prose theme. Somehow the XML sitemap option isn't working right in the webmaster tool. It keeps showing 0 URL submitted and when click on it, the indexing option keep showing 'pending' status. But sometimes, it starts showing stats. in the 'submitted URL' section and 'indexed' page section. I am fed up of this.
Please tell if we use genises's own SEO options, are these enough and equally powerful as YOAST and All In One SEO options are?? so i could start using genesis's own SEO options.
For sitemap, i know that i'll need another plugin...like...XML sitemap. I have used Google XML Sitemap in past and never it gave me any sort of problem with my webmaster tool. The only issue was that it consumed too much resources while saving or updating posts so it took time and i had to switch overt to YOAST....because it offered too many things in one plugin...thus making me use less plugins.
Is there any other option for XML sitemap as well other than Google XML sitemap?

MemberNumerous people like the Yoast SEO plugin and numerous folks like the built in SEO of Genesis. Both can work for your site.
To get specific about sitemaps, I've not seen the issue you're mentioning about Google XML Sitemaps (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/). With the issue you're mentioning, I would actually recommend putting in a ticket to your host to see if there is an issue with creating or writing the file by the sitemap plugin. They might be able to provide some answers on what the issues are.
Perhaps there are incorrect permissions on the file or other issue they can assist in diagnosing and correcting for you. Bluehost is a pretty strong supporter of WordPress so they should be able to get the issues figured out.
One thing on the Yoast in taking a peek at the site is that there appears there can be some sitemap issues. There is a link below to the article with some troubleshooting tips.

MemberThank you Weslinda....i have decided to use the built-in SEO options of Genesis along with the Google XML sitemap..and i hope it will work.
I am adding relevant data in the Theme's SEO fields like Title, Description and Meta Keywords and also adding the same data in the wordpress custom fields as in case i change theme in future, the meta data doesn't get wasted.
Do i need to do this?
secondly..what is the field "Custom Tracking/Conversion Code" which is a part of genesis's buit-in SEO options?

ParticipantGenesis SEO is the best in my opinion as there's been lots of problems installing SEO plugins which are well documented.
I would only suggest a plugin if your theme doesn't include built in SEO settings.

MemberThank you braddalton...and what about duplicating the data in the custom meta field as i have asked above. Should it be done? Let me write it here again

ParticipantNo i wouldn't do that (duplicating.) If you're referring to the meta description then yes, do that.

MemberOk you mean that i should keep entering data for theme's default SEO field i.e Meta Title, Meta Description and Meta Keywords and then if i duplicate the same data in WordPress Custom fields which are also Meta_title, Meta Description and Meta Keywords then there is nothing wrong.
OR you are just saying that i should only duplicate Meta Description in the custom fields and leave the rest.

MemberI wouldn't add the effort of duplicating the data into custom fields. You'll only need to move the information if you move away from the genesis platform. Even if you change to a new genesis theme, then the meta stays. Only if you leave the framework would you need to move it. I wouldn't put the effort in until you know you are moving. Seems like extra work to me.

MemberI'd go with Genesis built in SEO.
Other plugins offer much more that title tags and meta info but believe me you won't find the time to fill them all in.
If you want to rank highly write a useful post, fill in your meta info in Genesis SEO settings and promote on social media.
That's what I've done with my posts and I've managed to get pretty high in the SERPS.

MemberI just responded to the following post: http://www.studiopress.community/topic/a-questions-about-yoast-seo-and-studiopress/
The answers there are pertinent to this thread as well re: Yoast -vs- Genesis SEO.

Member@braddalton - I just installed Yoast the other day... and the only reason was because I started using SEOMoz and it picked up that I had duplicate content because of image attachment pages. Yoast offers the option to redirect those image attachment pages to the parent post. The other option was to avoid getting duplicate content from comment pages.
Is there any way of dealing with attachment page duplicate content problems using robots.txt or Genesis so as to avoid using Yoast. Yoast hid all my Genesis SEO options and in the process hid all the meta info I had for posts.
