Responsive Slider w/Agency – Continue Reading Button (not looking right)

Hi.

Your demo of the Agency Theme with the Responsive Slider (with the Continue Reading button) looks like:

My current Agency Theme with the Responsive Slider (with the Continue Reading button) looks like:

http://www.lonestarcredentialing.com/  (See the "In Class" slide to see what I am referring to.)

The problem is that in "YOUR" example, the code shows the Post Content in one P tag and the "Continue Reading" button in another P tag, so it separates nicely.

But if you look at my code, the Post Content is in one P tag, but the "Continue Reading" button is within the same P tag and therefore not formatting properly, by separating itself from the Post Content.  In my example, the "Continue Reading" button is interfering with the Post Content.

I have already disabled all of my plugins to see if there was a conflict, but there was none.  Since I am using Genesis and the Agency Child theme, it should work.  I also don't have any extra CSS running.

I'm hoping someone can tell me how to correct this.

Also note.  That in my current example, the "Content Area" isn't making the entire area (on the right) a complete white block.  It only seems to go down partially, unless I add in enough text into the content and increase the number of "characters" to be displayed. Why is the example I see at http://demo.studiopress.com/agency/,  even though there isn't a lot of content being displayed, but the white area on the right is taking up the full height (on the right side of the image) and not just partially.  Or is this issue related to the missing P tag (not currently surrounding the "Continue Reading" button??

maybe it looks different in the browser you're looking at it in, but it looks good in safari, chrome and firefox. i see that the added tag is missing, but it shouldn't make a big difference.

also, it's usually best to edit the style.css instead of using a plugin to add custom css.

The reason it looks okay (at the moment) is because I adjusted the CSS to force the "a" tag with the .more-link class to act as "display: block;"

But without this, the "Continue Reading" button doesn't appear on it's own line.

So, rather than have to jimmy the CSS, I'd like it to simply work (as it should) by wrapping the "Continue Reading" section in it's own P tag.

Why is it showing properly in the StudioPress demo, but not when I install it and use it?  That's what I'm trying to figure out and get fixed.

I hope that makes sense.

PS:  Thanks for your feedback.  Do you know why and how I can get the P tag to be added around the "section" for the Continue Reading portion?

This is the perfect example of a question that should go through the help desk first because it deals directly with the theme setup. 🙂

I;d have to check and see if I mentioned this in the setup tutorials (link in the members area called "HOW TO") but for it to look *exaclty* like the demo, you have to insert <!--more--> in your post where you want the text to cut off.

There must be a blank line both above and below the more tag.

No css adjustments needed.

Gary, you ever find a solution.  It is absolutely a default theme setup problem.

 

I am going to hack at CSS to send it to it's own line and block.  Mine is chopping in half and sits over lapping the text becuase it is too close.

Andrea's comment "There must be a blank line both above and below the more tag." fixed the issue.  I just didn't see this in the instructions.  So that's why I missed it.
