Remove post title on specific custom type only

I have a custom post type and am using a custom template to display it.

I am trying to remove the post title of this custom type from single page view only.

So far, I have tested out the following in my functions.php

function my_remove_post_title() {
remove_post_type_support( 'dogs', 'title' );
}
add_action( 'init', 'my_remove_post_title' );

However, that doesn't work, the title remains, plus I THINK that even if it did work it would remove the title from the categories and archives too, which I don't want. I only want it removed from the single page.

For info, the custom post type is called dogs

Can anybody help me with this?
