I have Bluehost and I know that they are partnered with Sitelock. I understand that I can use them or another third party security scan.

What is the smartest approach if I am on a budget but don't want to skimp on keeping my website safe?

What is the most reputable, widely used and dependable/affordable service?

Appreciation in advance for any tips.

These two are well-known in the WordPress security space:

    Thank you for the recommendations.
Are Sucuri and WordFence services similar to iThemes Security and Shield Security?
I'm wondering if it is unwise to go with a free security service (plugin), or you get what you pay for...Will I be sorry if I do not spend several hundreds of dollars to get a premium WordPress website security service?

I personally use the free version of Wordfence plugin on client sites.

I also make sure I follow good security practices like making sure that the admin username is not "admin", using a secure password etc.

Does not hurt to have automatic scheduled backups as well.

Thanks for describing your process, super helpful! Gave me a good image of the various elements for security.

Regarding "making sure that the admin username is not "admin"...
Did you use the free version of Wordfence to achieve this?
    A plugin?
