Hello, I've completely redesigned my blog using the focus theme - I'd love any feedback! It is http://www.wellbeautyblog.com.
My old blog is at wellbeauty.wordpress.com - I used the Linen theme, but I have simplified it (I had a slider at top, a menu and widgets on the sidebar) since I'm trying to get people who are going to that site to go to my new site.
It's lovely, I love the soft color scheme. Good job!
Thank you! 🙂
Thank you Tom!
Lovely website. My only suggestion is that you soften the shadow along the sides of your content. I think it's too overpowering. Very subtle would be best with your design.
Thanks for the idea! I'm not sure how to do that haha I'll have to look into it
It's an easy change to make.
In your WordPress dashboard, click on Appearance and then edit, and then in your stylesheet search for #wrap.
You'll see three lines of code for box shadow. The width of the shadow is set to 25px, which is huge. I'd try under 10px. The color is also quite dark. I'd set it to a softer gray like #ccc, #ddd, #dcdcdc or #999. You could also choose a very soft pastel as the shadow color. Here's a great chart to choose from:
You'd want to choose the lightest or second to lightest colors.
I wanted to add . . .
Be sure you change all three lines of code that reference box shadow. That way the shadow will display the same in different browsers.
I think it looks really good. Can I ask you what widget you used for the email sign up on the right?
Of course! It's the genesis enews extended plugin.
