    Hello everyone,

My name is Dinu, I am from The Republic of Moldova and I will try to make my question as short and clear as possible.

    A little background:

I'm about to start a personal development blog. While this will be my first blog, I have big plans for it. I've done an extensive research on various themes and platforms and Studiopress impressed me the most. Now, I'm definitely going to buy the Genesis Framework but I have some struggles with themes.

I'm running on a very tight budget at this moment in time and won't be able to hire a professional developer to customize my site, however I am a very fast learner and with right tutorials I believe I'm more than capable to design my blog on the basis of a child theme.

My blog will focus on providing daily content on various personal development topics with alternative perspectives and new concepts.

    Name: http://www.letsglide.com

Blog's main idea and message: Life's not as hard as it seems. Everything should come to us in a natural, stress-free way. Any effort should be accompanied with an internal pleasure. (hence the title let's glide - let's live an easy, pleasant, smooth life)

I want my blog to be clean, minimalist with calm colors, but at the same time I want to put an opt-in box and a free gift on my main page to build my list and sell affiliate products in the future.

There are three themes i thought about:  Minimum, Generate and Balance.

And here things get tricky... What is the best for my blog?

I am leaning towards Generate because of its opt-in options but would I be able to make it simpler and cleaner without professional coding and design? If i could get something in between Generate and Minimum that would be fantastic.

May be there are other themes more suitable.

I really need some directions and advice, and I am sorry if this is not the best place to post my question, but I'am at the last hurdle before I start blogging and want to make the best possible decision.

    Regards,

    Dinu

    Hi Dinu,

After you purchase a theme, you get access to the resources section which has the generate theme sign-up box so if that's the only reason you like the theme, know you have the option to use it on another theme.  Also check out Streamline, it has a email sign-up as well and has a very professional feel to it. http://my.studiopress.com/themes/streamline/

    Hi Nichole,

    Thank you for your reply.

The streamline theme captured my attention, but I didn't analyze it in depth. On a second viewing it looks even better. I may stick to it, and make slight changes.

If you ever stumble across my design or personal blog you will find I am using a very lightly modified version of Streamline (well maybe a bit more modified that it looks on the surface). I'll be sticking with that for a while because I really love the look/feel of Streamline. But that is a personal thing

I think Generate would be a great design for your planned site.  It has a personal feel to it and of course the optin form.  I use Focus for a site, which is much like Generate without the optin box and love it.
