I'm at a complete loss here and hope someone can shed some light.

I can go to Facebook and post a url to one of my pages and the title, description and image transfer through to Facebook.  When I try to do the same thing with LinkedIn the only thing that will show is the main url of my site.  It will not transfer any additional info to Linkedin.

Has anyone had this issue with LinkedIn?

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi there,

I don't think you're doing anything wrong, I think it's just the nature of how LinkedIn handles the links. If there's a way around it, I haven't heard. Sorry. 🙁

    Hello,

I've recently run in to the same problem. Up until a few weeks ago, I had no problem sharing links on LinkedIn to my Genesis-based site http://DMTalentNow.com. Now, the only thing that shows up in LinkedIn is "dmtalentnow.com" where it usually grabs the page title, page description, and image.

Links from other sites work fine on my Linkedin postings. My links on Facebook work fine (i.e. title, description, and image display correctly).

Any improvement for you, mgisys? If I find out why and/or how to fix, I'll post here.

    Peter,

I never did figure out the issue.  The only thing I could tell it was happening with all my sites at the time.  I had several setup under a WordPress Multi-Site install.  I don't have a lot of experience working with mult-site so I ended up creating a stand alone install for the site giving me trouble.  Works fine now.

I'm sure there is some type of fix but I couldn't waste anymore time on it.

    Sorry.

    Thanks, Dan.

Interesting. I've got a ticket with LinkedIn asking if there is anything my site (or I) am doing wrong. I don't use a multi-site install, but I do host with shared-hosting hosts. My biggest concern is that my site has somehow found itself on a LinkedIn "no-no" list. I post jobs on my site; perhaps they didn't like that.

I certainly understand the need to stop wasting time. I'm glad you found a fix that works for you.

    Hi Peter,

I'm interested to hear what LinkedIN support says. I've seen a lot of threads similar to this but dealing with Facebook. Haven't seen a good answer for LinkedIn yet...

    Cheers,

    Carrie

Here's the disappointing but not unexpected response from LinkedIn:

    ---------------

    Hi Peter,

Thank you for reaching out to us for assistance.

At this time, certain links that you may share on LinkedIn or in Groups may not show a photo thumbnail or a description. This can be due to a number of issues including security protocols on LinkedIn, inability draw the information from the linked page header or other various problems which are preventing communication of the LinkedIn sharing platform with the web page you're linking to.

We recommend trying an alternate related link if the current link isn't showing the desired information. We are aware of issues with certain links and we're currently working to improve the system. We appreciate your patience as we continue to make such improvements.

Note, if you are able to edit the HTML code on the related link, you may want to identify certain key media with metatags. Metatags help the sharing platform identify which images in text are accessible for sharing in the LinkedIn platform.

I hope that I've been able to help ease your concerns. Thank you for being a valued member of LinkedIn!

    Best regards,

    Zach
    Groups Support Specialist

    ---------------

My info was showing A-OK and then wasn't - and I haven't changed anything (unless there was a Genesis update I'm forgetting). I can't really use an alternate link because I'm sharing my own posts. Metatags are good. I'm  curious what "security protocols on LinkedIn" might be an issue (I'm sure I'm fine, but I am on shared hosting). Of course, "other various problems" isn't particularly specific.

My guess is that the links will magically be OK. In the meantime, I'm just going to try things (although there's not really too many things to try).

I wonder if the Facebook approach of using an image_src meta tag would work for LinkedIn?
