Hi there,
I have just purchased and downloaded the Lifestyle Pro theme. I'm annoyed with myself that I didn't check that it has a portfolio page template. Is there any way I can add it please? It's of utmost importance that I have it on this site!
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Carol
p.s. I didn't include a url of the site because it is still empty.

You can grab the code from the Executive Pro theme.
February 25, 2015 at 7:28 am #142193carolacatMemberHi Brad,
thanks so much for that advice. I do not have executive pro theme so can't access this code, unfortunately. Would there be a chance you could pass it along here?

Or
You can buy the Executive Pro theme and grab it from there.

I'll hang on for studiopress support!

March 31, 2015 at 2:34 pm #146301jenniferpinkleyParticipantCarol, did you ever get a solution to this issue? I also purchased the Lifestyle Pro theme, and the only assistance I received was a webpage link with instructions, but the instructions were all about adding code from Executive Pro to Lifestyle Pro. I don't own Executive Pro either. I don't think we should have to pay $37 for a members only website for a solution to this. Does anyone have a suggestion for adding a Portfolio page? Since the Portfolio was a pretty integral part of the original Lifestyle theme, I would think that some of the moderators or other users could help us add this functionality back to our websites.

@Jennifer, thanks to your response we found the solution. I am going to try this now... I will let you know if I ran into any issues.Carol
April 2, 2015 at 9:09 am #146462carolacatMemberHi I FTP'd the archiveportfoloio.php into my theme folder but it still didn't work...

April 3, 2015 at 5:33 am #146541carolacatMemberby the way, i tried to get around it by creating a light box instead of a portfolio page but the 'link to attachment page' feature isn't working so I can't link the images to another page which is very frustrating.
See: http://fullfillco.com/menu/
Does anyone have any ideas or fixes for either:
1. fixing the link to attachment page option on the image gallery / lightbox (http://fullfillco.com/menu/ )
Or;
2. Creating the portfolio page (http://fullfillco.com/portfolio/)
Ideas and suggestions are much appreciated, thanks in advance!

April 5, 2015 at 9:29 pm #146774cubicle10MemberHi Carolacat, have you gotten any further with adding a portfolio to your child theme? I am looking to do the same; although would rather not have to use a plugin.

Cubicle10April 7, 2015 at 1:41 pm #146958carolacatMemberhi,
@cubicle10 i've had no joy with this, unfortunately. I tried and tested blacknight9's link, the version with the plugin and however not the second link, as I don't feel too confident doing that one. If you try it and it works, can you please let me know. Thanks a million.Carolacat

April 13, 2015 at 8:19 am #147712jenniferpinkleyParticipantHi Black9Design, I just now tried to follow your tutorial, but I can't get it to work. I initially added the code to the functions.php file and my website completely broke (everything was a blank screen, even my Dashboard). Finally fixed it by mucking around in my cPanel. Now I'm afraid to try anything else. I think I will try to think of another alternative to Genesis. I am extremely disappointed in StudioPress that they removed this critical function from the templates and did not provide a better way for users who are not programmers to add this very important functionality.
April 13, 2015 at 8:28 am #147716carolacatMemberHi jennifer,
I feel your pain, I'm so sorry.
A blank screen is a php error. This happened to me recently and I had a copy of the functions.php file which I replaced with the corrupt version. I don't really know what I'm doing as regards php editing but I was presently surprised when I fixed it.Did you add new files via FTP? If so have you tried removing them via FTP too? You may well have tried all that already.
Here's hoping someone here can give you the solution. I'm still waiting to see if I can get my portfolio page up on my site If anyone can shed a bead of light I'd be so grateful!

April 13, 2015 at 9:17 am #147720jenniferpinkleyParticipantCarol, I decided to think about this a different way and researched gallery plugins, like for setting up an art gallery page. The functionality seems similar to portfolio pages. I just found one that is really easy to install and get working (no coding!). I'm going to play more with this, but I think it will work for me. Look up the Huge IT Portfolio plugin, or search for other "gallery" plugins. It looks like you want to add links to menus, and I think something like this will probably work for you too, with a lot less aggravation.
April 13, 2015 at 9:22 am #147721carolacatMemberHi Jennifer,
Thanks for your message. I tried this too. If you see my menu page I have a gallery light box but unfortunately the "link to attachment page" setting isn't working. I'm not sure if it's a bug on my site or something to do with the theme. If you do get it working, let me know.
I have also opened up a different thread talking about this but I've gotten nowhere. If you find a way to make this work I will so so happy. Keep trying!
CarolApril 13, 2015 at 9:48 am #147725jenniferpinkleyParticipantI created a test page and it's working great with Huge IT Portfolio. I'm not using "portfolio" pages at all, I deactivated all of those plugins that are supposed to create Portfolio functionality. I installed the Huge IT Portfolio plugin, went to the Portfolios option on the left side of the screen, created a new Portfolio, and added some images and links to existing blog posts. I used the Gallery/Content Pop-Up option for the display. Then I created a new Page, clicked the Add Portfolio Gallery option and inserted the Portfolio I just created. This is what I got: http://discoverhistorictravel.com/test-page-for-articles/ I actually like this a lot more than the old Portfolio options so I'm glad I decided to give up on fooling around with the code!
April 13, 2015 at 9:59 am #147731jenniferpinkleyParticipantI'm not sure if my last reply showed up (I don't see it). I decided to deactivate all of the Portfolio page plugins except for Huge IT Portfolio. I created a new Portfolio option called Articles with that and added photos, descriptions, and URLs to existing blog posts. I used the Gallery/Content Pop-up option. Then I created a Page and used the Add Portfolio Gallery to add my new Article portfolio. I set my page display to full-length like the old Portfolios, but I like that you can also set it to see you right sidebar too. This is what I got: http://discoverhistorictravel.com/test-page-for-articles/ I actually like this more than the old Portfolio options so am going to stick with it. Try it again and see if it will work.
