    why do my .png files load slow. the .jpg files load fast, and many of the .jpg are larger files, in some cases 2x the size at least.

    the .png files that load slow are the front page (my name and the first pic of the dog in clover)

    Hi,
    I agree, they're not enormous, but the name image in the header is over 1M, which is bigger than I would typically use. The doggie is about 180K, still just a little big for its size.

    So you could try saving them at a higher compression ratio, for instance. You could also crop the name image, unless you definitely want the texture to go all the way across.

    Beyond that, you could also try setting up a cache plugin, but I think some editing would be your best bet.
