    We are using the "Crystal" theme (with WP 3.9.2 right now), and wondered if anyone knows of a good plugin for measuring site page views.

    (We tried "SlimStat" but it doesn't seem to work properly---maybe we need to upgrade to WP 4.1).

    Try using Google Analytics by Yoast.

    And updating WordPress is very important!

    Absolutely keep your WP core and all plugins updated.

    If it scares you, I recommend UpdraftPlus https://updraftplus.com/ with auto backup enabled pushing to one or more cloud storage peers. If an update fails it is trivial to restore with UpdraftPlus, and it honestly makes WP backup and restore a breeze.

    As standard, we push at least 14 nightly backups from UpdraftPlus to Google Drive and Amazon S3 for all client sites and the peace of mind knowing that we can restore from a failed update, hack or pebkac issue to any host we like is amazing. We push auto backups for any core or plugin update, so we have coverage for almost all failure modes (this is in addition to host backups / os block level backups on out VPSs).
