    Hello

A second post in a short time here but I realized after my last post it's probably better to ask for feedback before I deliver it to the client so I can take the valuable feedback into the product instead of thinking "next time I will do it different"

On this site I am using the Ambiance Pro theme. The client selected it after our first meeting after looking at several other Studiopress themes.

    1. I don't like the menu on the page. It's too long. However the client needs to have some menus there. I am however pretty pleased with the responsive menu that I decided to use.

    2. The front page looks empty and kinda boring. Any suggestions on how it could be more exiting?

    3. The text on the pictures isn't something I'm very happy with. But since I'm not a great graphical designer I'm kinda lost on what to do with these. They work differently on the theme demo but that's because all the pictures are de-saturated. Sadly I can't do that on these pictures.

PS! How on earth do I get to upload an avatar picture too my profile? I don't want to have this grey picture on the forums anymore.

    Hi,

    1. I think you need to re-think the menu on this. It's forcing the header to take up far too much room. I'm using a 15" laptop computer, and the header is taking 2/3 of the available screen - in Chrome.

    2. Not sure what to suggest about livening up the front page. I like, and use, the theme because I like the way it allows the photos to speak for themselves. I have added a bit of colour in the header and footer, to make it a little different, and to brighten it up a little. I did try adding a background image to the page: It worked okay, but clashed with my photos.

    3. I've added a drop-shadow, rather that a background stripe, to the title-text on my site. But I suspect that may not be as cross-browser friendly as the way you've done it. I guess you could try varying the size, font, or colour, to see if you could get something you prefer. Or the stripe you be faded more.

The avatar is just a gravatar image, as would be picked up on comments etc.

    Hope some of that helps.

Hey Paul and thanks for the input.

I do have one question for you: When you are talking about the menu you are talking about the normal one and not the responsive menu that turns up when you scale it down.

Yes, sorry, I meant the normal one. Scaled down it's just the hamburger which can be opened in a column.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll test on my own laptop later. I haven't seen that issue myself

    Hey,

I think the design of the site is good, but I LOVE the photos of the houses 🙂

My main recommendation is to minimise the menu on subpages. I think the photos are awesome and work well with the design, but the menu size obstructs too much of the photo in my opinion.

    See this page: http://www.dagerlingjensen.no/montasje/38

I think if the menu was smaller or there was more of the photo you would have a more engaging experience.
    regards,
    Dan
