    Hi,

I have added some custom post templates to one of my wordpress Genesis sites, but the 'post template' dropdown menu is not appearing in the post admin panel.

I know that the post templates work-- as they are functional on another site of mine.

I have also saved them in the correct location (the themes folder of the active theme).

Any ideas why the template drop down might not be showing up?

Do i have to activate it in functions.php somehow?

    thanks

No need to activate it. Is it the exact same template at your other site is using? I would try uploading a template that's working on another site and seeing if that shows up for you. That will point to where the issue might be coming from.

Are you referring to the Pages post type or another post type (i.e. Posts, Portfolio, etc.)? For anything other than Pages, that feature doesn't exist by default. Post types other than Pages do not support custom templates in the same ways as Pages and the "Add/Edit Post/CPT" screen does not have a dropdown for you to select a template from like your Pages Add/Edit screens. See http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Hierarchy#Single_Post_display.

If you're able to select from different templates on post types other than Pages on another site, that site is likely running a plugin to add this functionality. There are a few plugins that do this but here's one I prefer because it also works for custom post types.
