I have been running this Genesis News Pro site for a year now and like most site owners, I'm constantly tweaking this and that. I get great feedback from my readers but I want to know opinions from everyone here.
If you can, spend a minute looking around and give me an suggestions you have or opinions.
Thank You.
Matt
The only thing i noticed is the font color in the secondary menu is a bit dark and hard to read.
You could make that white.
Hi Matt, How is the site performing for you? What types of tweaks have you been doing?
In reviewing your home page I am thinking about how decisions impact conversion.
First off, the top of the home page is very busy with no place to rest the eye. Everything seems to complete for attention. It confuses action. Can you simplify? What if you either removed the scrolling blog post images or set it up so they scrolled much slower or not at all? In comparison I find the internal pages much cleaner, easier to navigate and it creates an environment where the ads stand out more.
Having the ad for Archery Warehouse occupying space along side your logo is an interesting decision. The red in the ad overpowers everything including your branding. I'm guessing the tradeoff for clicks is worth it.
As part of simplifying I'd think about taking the social icons out of the header area. You have them at your site, which is the goal since you can monetize. I would not prioritize sending them away to one of your social outposts where you can't.
Your email sign up is getting a little lost as well. Could it take the place of the social icons in the header? Or some other prominent place? You seem in it to win it so everything you can do to visually prioritize email sign ups can pay off big.
Continued success,
Wayne
Thanks for all your help. I am changing the header area now and moving things around a little to clean that up.
The font color on the menus is a pain. I can't (don't know how) to change each one individually. If I change the lower, the upper changes as well.
Looks awesome man. Keep it up!
