    I am using Genesis with the Optimal child theme. For some reason the 'featured image' panel does not appear on the 'add new post' page or 'add new page' page.

    When I use other non-Genesis themes the panel is there and functions perfectly.

    Any advice gratefully received...!

    Hi Norman,

    Go to the new Page. Scroll up to the top and look for the Screen Options tab. Click it. Look for Featured Image. Make sure there is a check mark in the box. If not check it, then click Screen Options again to close it. Then scroll down and you should see it.

    add the following code in your functions.php file

    add_theme_support('post-thumbnail');
