I recently noticed my clients blog has a problem.

When you click on the page #s at the bottom and/or "next page" they don't go anywhere. They just reload the homepage. You'll see http://blog.laurenstjulian.com/page/2/ in the url, but the posts are still the latest ones on the homepage. When you're on page 2 and you click on the page numbers/next page, posts are still the ones that show up on the homepage and it doesn't go to page 3 in the url.

I have a new client who reached out to me and also has the same issue.

    1. My client's site is http://blog.laurenstjulian.com (balance theme)
    2. Colleagues site is http://www.capecouponer.com (luscious theme)

Is the query being amended in anyway?

Often, custom queries will forget to ensure a paged argument is passed through.

I installed the theme on blog.laurenstjulian.com and made two changes to the layout on the home page:
    1. Didn't display the opt-in area on top
    2. Made the blog display one post stacked on top of the other (the traditional way) instead of having the grid

If you comment out all of the PHP amendments you made, does the list appear in the correct order?

Can you also disable all plugins and check? (i.e. go back to basics to work out what is causing the problem)

Figured it out. Silly actually. It was set to 'static page' for the homepage. Changed it to blog. Working fine now.
