    Instead of the title, users want to have a custom field display under the post images on the front page. These could be one or multi-line (probably going to want HTML). The Appearance->Widgets->Genesis Featured Posts tool has options to show the Title, Post Info (can you put a custom field shortcode in here?), and/or Content Type (can you hook into this to have a custom field in the select?).

    What's the best method to provide a custom field display in this scenario?

    Use the

    is_front_page

    conditional tag with this code for custom fields http://wpsites.net/web-design/how-to-create-a-custom-field/

    And use the entry header hook or entry content hook with a 3rd parameter below 10
